Collaborative Maps?[edit]

{{helpme}} I recently added an external link to a Google Map on the Berg Lake article. This link has markers for various locations along the trail as well as distances from the trail head and elevations.

Is there a better, or more accepted, way of displaying this type of information? --NathanBullock (talk) 22:57, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Adding links for Sites/Attractions in national park articles?[edit]

{{helpme}} In the Mount Robson Provincial Park article I wanted to add links for the various sites/attractions in the park. Is the See Also section the proper place to do this? Or should I create separate sections for things like trails, lakes, waterfalls, campsites, etc. --NathanBullock (talk) 22:57, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

External website links may only be used as either references, or within a special section at the very end, called 'External links'. They should not be within the body of the article.

Is there "model" articles, and how do I find them?[edit]

{{helpme}} When I am editing articles about national parks, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, etc is there a "best article" list somewhere that you can say. "Okay, I am editing an article about a lake, I should go to Lake SuchAndSuch as the best example of an article on lakes." --NathanBullock (talk) 22:57, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The best examples are featured articles and good articles (in that order); you could find something on a similar topic there, and get ideas, check how they do things, etc. Not all articles have to live up to those standards, but they certainly help set an example. Re. links to sites/attractions;

If you possibly can add them within the text itself, that is the preferred method. Failing that, you can have a 'see also' section, or, within a section (at the top of it) you can say "main article: something" (template:main)

Re. wikilinks, and 'pipes'

For example, in an article about the town called Blackpool, you might write: Blackpool has a [[Blackpool Pleasure Beach|Pleasure Beach]].

That would display as: Blackpool has a Pleasure Beach.

The best way to get the links in is to add a paragraph of prose (with references) and use Wikilinks. You can have a list, kinda "See also [[this]]" - but prose is preferred
