Uncited change of family history[edit]

On 4 August 2010, an unregistered user changed the original EB1911 text "in 1494, the German King Maximilian I granted them the honor..." to "in 1452, the German King Frederick III granted them the honor...". The same IP made a few edits about later branches of the family, and they don't seem mischievous. On the other hand, the 1494 date is corroborated by Roland Hill's "Lord Acton" and "The Cambridge Modern History vol 5", which was written by a member of the same family. I think that's enough backup citations to revert to the EB1911.

On the other hand, the "honor" spelling goes back to the creation as an upload of the EB1911 article, despite the original having "honour". I'll leave that with the American spelling. David Brooks (talk) 04:44, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
