  • I'll definitely attend this meetup. Is it possible to arrange such program in city center? Some place near Expo Center or Mazar-e-Quaid? Fkehar (talk) 05:28, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Please propose a specific restaurant. How about McDonalds or KFC, both located in Tariq Road? Saqib talk 07:35, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Nice idea Saqib. Saqib . I'm leaving for Japan tomorrow and hope to join 2009 Wikimedia Conference helding on 22 November. What about you? --Zainichi Gaikokujin (talk) 08:04, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
I could make it to Tariq Road at either of the two places but around 4pm or later. Can't do lunch.Rzafar (talk) 10:07, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Any idea if Tariq road based McDonald or KFC providing internet or Wifi facility? --Zainichi Gaikokujin (talk) 10:53, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
  • Now, the question is how will we recognise each other? and by the way, do not forget to bring your idea's or proposal's, if any. Saqib talk 16:01, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
I agreed on McDonald's Tariq Road Fkehar (talk) 04:59, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Saqib, ask attendees to send email to you and then reply them back individually with your hand phone number. Do not mention your number here because of privacy. --Zainichi Gaikokujin (talk) 05:56, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
I would recommend you bring a small "Wikipedia" sign, or something with the same effect, so fellow Wikipedians can recognise each other.--Pharos (talk) 14:34, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Also, it would be great if you put the meeting details on the front side of this page, rather than just on the talk page. Thanks.--Pharos (talk) 14:56, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
What meeting details do you want on front page? Everything that seems necessary to me is already there! Saqib talk 17:03, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps I am missing it, but I see the date, time, and location listed only on the talk page. Of course, it is your call. Good luck from the New York meetup to the Karachi meetup!--Pharos (talk) 18:07, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I just did not notice it at the top :)--Pharos (talk) 00:32, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
So, just send me an e-mail and in return, I will be announcing my number in the email, not here for privacy reasons. Saqib talk 15:28, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Jimmy Wales

Hi! From where did you get Jimmy Wales message for Karachi meetup? 121.222.146.149 (talk) 01:23, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

See this. Saqib talk 04:45, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Cool! 121.222.4.68 (talk) 06:53, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

I think this Karachi meetup deserves more due publicity. Since you're from Karachi, I advise you to give as much potential outreach as you can. I can guarantee there are hundreds of youth out there (some of whom probably go on Wikipedia alot but don't edit) that are uninformed about this and would otherwise definitely come. Try to also get a local newspaper/magazine involved - these people are normally faarik to make small columns on these types of things. I must say I was surprised to see Jimbo Wales expressing intention of visiting. Thats something worth front page story :) 121.222.4.68 (talk) 07:06, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
I'm trying to reach some local media organizations but no interest showed as of now. 2 days left to GO so no idea if attendance will be good however a first step better than nothing. Saqib talk 07:26, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Did you contact Geo, express news, Ary and any other big wigs ? If they don't respond contact Karachi local channels. Also try to contact local Fm stations. I think English newspapers will be more helpful such as DAWN, even a small section in Metropolitan of Dawn could prove very helpful. Don't you have any contacts in media ? My friend does have some links to the head of Kyhber Tv but contacting them in this short time will not be possible. --yousaf465' 02:35, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
I try to contact some, as you mentioned for covering report on post-meetup but nobody responds to me yet. If you've any reach to them, I'll appreciate. Saqib talk 05:25, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
