WikiAfrica Projects in 2014[edit]

In partnership with Lead SA, WikiAfrica and m:Wikimedia South Africa conducted a two-day training event with young South Africans from Sinenjongo High School and LeadSA's Future Leaders programme.

Archived WikiAfrica projects pre-2014[edit]

Activates artists, critics, curators and art institutions to bring African art to Wikipedia.

Activates filmmakers, journalists, critics, festivals and institutions to bring African cinema to Wikipedia.

Activates writers, critics, editors and cultural institutions to bring African literature to Wikipedia.

Activates writers, experts, journalists, academics and archival organisations to bring African culture and knowledge to Wikipedia.

Activates poets, critics, writers and cultural organisations to bring African poetry to Wikipedia.

Activates GLAMs through Share Your Knowledge.

30,000 African contributions to Wikipedia - images and texts - by 2012 thanks to editors and GLAMs involved within Share Your Knowledge.

A course on Public Culture in Africa in collaboration with Curate Africa, where students curate photographs from Africa around a theme, and as part of their course work add articles specific to the subject of their preferred topic or on photographers from Africa. The theme for 2013 is Notions of Play in Africa.
