Matta rice

This was WP:OVERTAGGING. If you're going to add that many tags, at least explain them on the talk page. I've removed most of them and added some references I found. In particular I don't see why you tagged it as a hoax. Please be more judicious in your tagging of articles. Fences&Windows 10:22, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

The previous version sounded like a hoax to me, with unverifiable claims. I suspected it to be the same as brown rice and hence also tagged the article for experts' attention. morelMWilliam 10:55, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Better to explore a bit more yourself and explain your reasoning than to add a whole lot of tags through a lack of familiarity with a topic. I'd not heard of it before either. You could also seek help from an appropriate WikiProject, e.g. Wikipedia:WikiProject Kerala and Wikipedia:WikiProject Food and drink. Fences&Windows 11:02, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
I added tags than delete contents from it or propose deletion. The tags were placed in good faith, expecting expert attention, than letting it remain like it has been for months now.morelMWilliam 11:08, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Sure, and I'm explaining what you could have done differently that would have been more constructive than tagging (though tagging is greatly preferred to deleting in ignorance). I don't see what WP:AGF has to do with anything. Fences&Windows 11:11, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Anyway, I tried to find sources before tagging, but found none, and hence proceeded with my tagging them to raise my concern. You have corrected what I did. So I don't think there is a need in hanging on to it. I would keep this in mind from next time. Thanks. morelMWilliam 11:15, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

copyright tags

I have corrected the copyright tags and licensing for this image you uploaded. Copyrighted images cannot be uploaded/used as CC BY SA. Certain historical images and images of dead people can be used using a fair use rationale though.--Sodabottle (talk) 17:41, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

BBC terms of use states that the image can be used by attributing the source. Did you have a look at it? Anyway, bistoric image would do well in this case. morelMWilliam 17:49, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
They can be reused, but they cannot be tagged as a CC BY SA 3.0 licence. A CC BY SA 3.0 licence indicates, anyone can take it from here modify it and/or use it commercially. It is my understanding that this cannnot be done for images for sources like BBC. The general restrictions clause 3.3.2 of their terms of service statesyou may not assist anyone to, or attempt to, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, adapt, modify, copy, reproduce, lend, hire, rent, perform, sub-license, make available to the public, create derivative works from, broadcast, distribute, commercially exploit, transmit or otherwise use in any way. --Sodabottle (talk) 18:16, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
You have referred the wrong section. Check under business use tab. Clauses 3 and 4 clearlystate that it is CC BY SA, stating the way you should attribute it.morelMWilliam 18:32, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
I posed this question to our community liaison and copyright expert and she saysthey are not compatible.I am way over my head here in determining compatibility between BBCs terms of use and CC BY SA 3.0; But if you believe they are compatible can you point out how to her?. If you are correct, this might help set a precedent in reuse of BBC content. Thanks! --Sodabottle (talk) 03:49, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
I didnt see that 'particular article' clause. Also, I didn't know that wikipedia would come under websites with profanities, which disqualifies wikipedia as a business user. I uploaded an image for Riyad Vinci Wadia using that historic image rationale today. Check its validity.morelMWilliam 16:39, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Good idea

Yes, if that's really him, we should definitely ask him for a picture. Thanks for thinking of this. Khazar (talk) 16:49, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Do you think the text in the article can be improved? Is it peer review worthy? I am in no mood to start new articles at the moment. So, giving a try on improving the old ones.morelMWilliam 16:51, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

You're welcome, glad to help. And as I said in my review comment that has now vanished off the DYK suggestions page so I'm not sure whether you saw it, feel free to change the Romani(es) thing. I was disturbed that newspapers are still using "gypsy" but noticed that they are also using "Roma" and using "gypsy" to explain it; you may want to change it over to the Rom/Roma usage, but these are words I don't often write so I felt a bit grammatically uncertain and went with the one I knew I could use correctly. Or add a few more (gypsy) explanations if you think people are going to find it unclear. I did that in the lede for clarity.Yngvadottir (talk) 06:17, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

I've replied. Aridd (talk) 18:28, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Hey I noticed that you have nominated Ponnar Shankar for good article, when I was looking atthe poster I noticed that is more then likely a custom made poster because it steals the left side of the image from the 2007 film Beowulf. I didnt want to replace the image with something else because I dont no anything about the film but if you could replace the poster with a proper version that would be great. Thanks,Salavat (talk) 06:32, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

The earlier version is used in the DVD covers for this film. I uploaded a new version, which also looks morphed. Could check the new version?morelMWilliam06:38, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
That image looks better and is similar to the one used on the films facebook page. But it appears to maybe be the cover art of the sound track as I noticed the Saga Music logo in the bottom corner, but I could be wrong. Otherwise at least its better then a fake poster. Thanks for the quick change. Salavat (talk) 06:47, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
It is indeed the cover-art for the soundtrack. The DVD cover for the film is the older version, which steals from Beowulf's. Thanks for your quick response. morelMWilliam 06:51, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Je suis né d'une cigogne

Your DYK hook

Try something like this: "Did you know that in this film by Tony Gatlif the characters adopt a stork for which they forge a passport to cross the border into Germany". Something like that so it's not in-universe. Sorry, I don't have the window open so am making it up off the top of my head and you'll need to tweak it. Hope this helps. Truthkeeper88 (talk) 00:16, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

A hook is supposed to be like the tip of an ice berg. It shouldn't be too heavy as to break the line itself. And it would be a chaser with very specific words like 'characters', 'plot' or even 'in the film'. I suggested a new hook which goes '..that in Gatlif's Children of the Stork, a stork is in need of a passport to get across the Franco-German border?'. This too isn't too interesting, I would say, as it is very obvious from the hook that it is a fact from a film's plot. Okay, I have covered all the points raised by you in the PR. Could you leave your comments on the new lead? morelMWilliam 05:47, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
Despite yesterday's DYK debacle, I actually have had quite a few DYKs, but they aren't displayed on my page. I understand that some people want "exciting" hooks - it's something I'm fundamentally in disagreement with and which caused yesterday's situation. The boring hook would have been fine, the more exciting hook caused problems. You have to use the words characters to make it so it's not in-universe, which seems to be why they don't like it. Anyway, I'll try to get the PR soonish - I do intend to do a full copy-edit, but keep getting tied up. Truthkeeper88 (talk) 16:35, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
Take your time. I would proceed with adding more content to Betty Blue which has zero sources now. A stub class article for this movie is a real shame. The French page looks even worse than a skeleton. morelMWilliam 18:27, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
