Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Mark.hamid. I see that you've already been around awhile and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Scotland

I think you'll find the Q1: Is Scotland a "country"? in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) at the top of the talk page.

In addition, your edit did not comply with WP:MOSLINK#General points on linking style When possible, avoid placing links next to each other so that they look like a single link. BTW, if you wish to reply, please do so here (I will see it). Tim PF (talk) 16:20, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

The first item appears to be "The Queen"... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mark.hamid (talkcontribs) 22:04, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Ok, I should have said right at the top. It's in the fourth box down, just below the Saltire, and you have to click on the "[show]" box to see the text.
BTW, could you indent your replies (using ":" — you'll need ":::" next), and sign posts on talk pages with ~~~~, please? Tim PF (talk) 23:04, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

Papal Cross

Hi mark. You are right; I assumed the article was about the Papal Cross - in Phoenix Park. Sarah777 (talk) 22:45, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Abeer Macintyre in Malawi.JPG

Thanks for uploading File:Abeer Macintyre in Malawi.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:07, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Abeer Macintyre in Malawi.JPG

Thanks for uploading File:Abeer Macintyre in Malawi.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 00:16, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Good to see you stepping up to the mark to write the article yourself. I don't know why I bother.Mark.hamid (talk) 13:57, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
I greatly appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia. I am sure that if you didn't want your content to be updated and corrected by others, then you could publish it elsewhere, yet you chose Wikipedia and the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License. Thank you for communicating civilly and maintaining an atmosphere of collegial cooperation. Elizium23 (talk) 17:53, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
What I object to is having my context tinkered with before I even have a chance to put it up. The article is less than twelve hours old! I appreciate that it's not just you but I do think that editors could hold off a bit when content isn't massively scandalous. Please remember that many contributors write about topics they care about and don't know Wikipedia protocol back to front. Editors have a role to play but it shouldn't be putting off the people who actually write new articles. Mark.hamid (talk) 18:02, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi, Wikipedia works on a collaborative basis, with multiple editors from all over the world each contributing their little bits to an article, refining and improving on each other's work. No one editor own an article. Just like you, there are many other editors who care deeply about a particular topic and wants to add in their little bits. It would be unfair to other editors for one person to be able to hold off other editors from contributing while that person get exclusive rights to edit an article. In terms of possibly losing the bits your hard work, I would suggest adding it over many smaller edit instead of one big edit. This will help avoid edit conflicting with other editors and also make sure it is saved in case of say a computer crash on your end. Thanks and happy editing! -- KTC (talk) 21:03, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
That wasn't what I was suggesting. And when I attempted to edit piecemeal by adding a basic structure of subheadings you deleted half of them... Mark.hamid (talk) 21:10, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

Oh great: I've been Elizium23ed... In what sense is he not "bishop designate"? As a consecrated bishop, he has a right to take possession of the see at any time hereafter. Also, rather than reverting my edit to something which is now wrong, how about actually getting your hands dirty and IMPROVING the article rather than just pontificating on other people's contributions? Mark.hamid (talk) 20:15, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello Mark.hamid. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Cedric Thorpe Davie".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Cedric Thorpe Davie}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 03:03, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi Mark, just to let you know I removed the deletion tag from your article for creation submission at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Cedric Thorpe Davie, there was a technical glitch with the bot that tagged it (it saw it as unsubmitted, however it had been submitted, but it wasn't showing up due to a break in the referencing, which I have since fixed.) I saw that Davie has an extensive page at the Dutch wikipedia, so it is likely that he should have a page here. The issue is the submission you provided is only referenced to the Dutch wikipedia. If you have any secondary sources that can be added to the page, I am sure it can be approved (I am willing to do it personally if you just ping me on my talk page, rather than having to wait for a review through Articles for Creation). Anyway, let me know, I am happy to help. --kelapstick(bainuu) 10:00, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Not a technical glitch, it obeyed the rules. Hasteur (talk) 12:47, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Absolutely correct Hasteur, I am striking out that section. --kelapstick(bainuu) 12:58, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Carbisdale Castle may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
