Hello, Jackjambie. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article The Family Rain, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. Editing The Family Rain Page[edit]

I do not think you are understanding. Wikipedia does not care about what is best for the artists or their business. This is not an advertising site and you must understand that not everything posted on your artists' pages will be positive. It doesn't matter if the content on the page provides a positive look for the band or not. However, I would suggest that you take care changing such pages because you have a very strong conflict of interest which makes it hard to provide objective information. -- TOW talk 00:28, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I definitely understand that the page is supposed to be objective, but I'm not quite sure why one person who clearly wants to paint a certain picture of the band gets to have a "monopoly" on this proposed "objectivism," and why it is that you seem so keen on defending their version of events? Clearly this is information that has been added to the article from the perspective of someone close enough to the band to hold particular information on them from their childhood, that they have chosen to bring to light for whatever their reason might be.

Why can the band and their management, surely some of the most reliable sources to pool from in order to get an "objective" spin on things alongside their fans and label, not then be allowed to further edit this information? If not deleting it then at least shortening it so that it doesn't carry as much weight in the article as it currently does (nearly a third of the entry...)?

Surely someone with such a vested interest in spinning events in the band's past to expose influences that are both from the band's childhood, and almost totally irrelevant to the band's music today, can't be seen as owning an "objective" worldview in this case, and have such an absolute authority on the content that goes in to their wikipedia entry?

No one mentioned advertising, in fact no one even mentioned whether the information was positive or negative. The point was that the information that has been added is irrelevant on the band's page, and needs editing at very least.

Wikipedia might not care about what is best for the artists, but we certainly do, and as such we would appreciate it if we could be allowed to edit the article ourselves to give our own perspective, the objective outcome of which can later be judged by the moderators and online community.

Regardless of the information up there at the moment however, we need to update the page with more relevant information as well as press references. If I send through some information to add alongside references would you be able to add these in for me?
