Hi. Regarding the photo File:Carla Garapedian.jpg, can I ask you who took this photo. Also, I was wandering if you are Carla Garapedian. The reason I'm asking, is we need to determine the exact copyright status of the image. --Rob (talk) 07:53, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Does it matter if this is Garapedian or if it is her agent? The copyright status is that the image was released with this Creative Commons license. I added the photo to the article Carla Garapedian. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 09:26, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it does matter, very much. If the owner of the FlickR account didn't own the copyright to the photo, they have no authority to license it under Creative Commons. Typically promotional photos (which this user says it is) are released under restrictive licenses which are incompatible with a Creative Commons licenses, and not sufficiently free for Wikipedia. Being the subject of a photo doesn't mean you own it, or have a right to license it. The vast majority of publicity photos uploaded to Wikipedia have been deleted. More so on Commons, since fair use isn't allowed there. --Rob (talk) 16:54, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Most publicity photos get deleted because uploaders just take press material from web sites and news sources. That is not the case here. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 18:55, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
