Ahoy There

Hello, best regards Foxearth

Welcome!

Welcome!

Hello, ForestH2/April 14th, 2006 to May 18th, 2006, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  Ëvilphoenix Burn! 01:22, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm glad you've decided to sign up for an account. Welcome to Wikipedia. Ëvilphoenix Burn! 01:22, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Yes, glad you've signed up as well! I've just added a bunch of characters who appear in book 5 but are minor, and I know you were starting to take them out – it's just that the meticulous work I've done is something that will allow the the Wikipedi article its completeness. So, just like there are all the little minor characters in Differences between book and film versions of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which I also researched, movie 5 deserves them as well. Anyway, see you around! --Fbv65edel (discuss | contribs) 02:32, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Spelling and grammar

Can you please try to improve your spelling and grammar? I'm seeing a lot of errors in your edits and comments on Talk pages, and I would really appreciate it if you could try to be a little more careful in what you type. Thanks! Ëvilphoenix Burn! 01:06, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

Signature

I'm not exactly sure. How about you sign your signature when you see this message, just with the four tildes, and don't change anything, and I'll see what's going on. --Fbv65edel (discuss | contribs) 00:46, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

{{helpme}}

I have been trying to create user boxes and I can't create any box I want. I can only create specific ones. Why is that?ForestH2 23:47, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

You can create anything you want (almost) by using HTML. Hope this helps, if not, contact me! Bjelleklangtalk 00:04, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:Userboxes. You can create other userboxes by substituting the templates at the bottom of that page, without knowledge of HTML. UkPaolo/talk 08:40, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Edit summaries

Hey Forest, I notice that as of late you've been writing /* [summary] */ in the edit summary box. the /* and */ commands are meant only for sections of the article; for example, in the OoP movie article, the sections are Synopsis, Cast status, Confirmed, Expected/Possible, and so on. What you want to say about the page goes after the /* and */. For example, in the 23:42, 26 April edit of mine, you will see my edit summary is an arrow, the name of the section (External links), and the edit summary I typed, which is "HPFZ doesn't list sources – MN does – see talk." If you're editing part of the page that doesn't have a section, for example the very top, or a page such as the Differences between OoP page which doesn't have any sections at all, don't use /* and */. Instead, just type in a summary at the bottom if you choose to do so, as you will see in my 23:55 edit of the OoP movie page, which just says "ref." Just wanted to let you know. :-) --Fbv65edel (discuss | contribs) 00:05, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

FYI

User:Yells at trout was indeed welcomed to Wikipedia (see here) but for some reason or other his first edit to his talk page was to remove the welcome message, and fire away with questions. Odd. Moriori 01:47, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Very odd.-Forest

Forest – I just saw your comments on User talk:Yells at soup and thought I'd give you a couple of tips. You can turn of MediaWiki's interpreting of templates and such like by surrounding it with <nowiki> tags. E.g. {{helpme}} won't cause the template to display, and similarly ~~~~ won't turn into my name. If you want to provide a link to a template as well, you may find it helpful to prefix it with "t1|" (e.g. {{t1|helpme}} will display as {{helpme}}, without causing the template to display, but including a link to the template where you can see what it looks like. Hope this helps. UkPaolo/talk 08:36, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Your help regarding dispute

thanks for your help on my talk page. I replied back on my talk page.Sarreau 22:11, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

No problem. But do be alerted about page protection. ForestH2 23:03, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

hey I did re-editing on the Contrat nouvelle embauche (sorry had some problem with my logging in, my name did not appear but I was the 80.170.5.41...). Let me know what you think ..Sarreau 02:50, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

I think it looks great. ForestH2

Contrat nouvelle embauche

Hi Forest, I was confused by a remark you made on Talk:Contrat nouvelle embauche. When you say don't post to his talk page. I left a note a week ago, he's still editing and hasn't responded I'm not sure about whom you're referring; me or Lapaz. If it's me (and I presume it is since I had a quick look and you haven't left a message for Lapaz) I thought I'd responded to all messages you'd left on my talk page — please post me a reminder if you've still got further questions, maybe I missed something!

Also, I notice in a number of your edits, including this one, you have signed your name using {{unsigned|ForestH2}}. The {{unsigned}} template is intended to be used by other editors to mark who wrote a comment if the intial poster forgot to sign. For example, if I'd forgotten to sign a remark I wrote on Talk:Contrat nouvelle embauche, you could add {{unsigned|UkPaolo}} to indicate that it was written by me. When signing your own messages, they're not unsigned and it's therefore a bit daft to use the unsigned template. You should always sign your messages by typing 4 tildes: ~~~~.

Hope that helps, and please let me know if you were expecting a reply about something! UkPaolo/talk 16:20, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

The Drake and Josh thing. I noticed you starting editing like on April 28th or something (posted on the 25th of April or something, don't remember the excat dates) and I checked by like April 30th, and nothing and you still were editing so I removed it from my watchlist but I'll recheck it now. When using ~~~~ I seem to have a problem becasue by signature looks different so I've been signing it so only my name appears instead of my and name and date. ForestH2

You didn't answer my question. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ForestH2 (talkcontribs)

I'm sorry I didn't answer regarding Treehouse (Drake and Josh episode): as I said in the template "nn episode, and this article is speculation in any case with no content!" At the time, the article read Treehouse is a Drake and Josh episode from Season 4. Filming has most likely finished as this episode will be out in the next few months. Most likely sounded very much like speculation to me, so the article really told us nothing. I see you've changed the article a bit now, but please note that the "note" you placed at the top of the article really belongs on it's talk page. I still think the article is entirely speculative... plot unknown, most likely started filming, the article isn't saying anything concrete. I'll give you a chance to add some more information (maybe backed up by some external links), but otherwise would be tempted to list for discussion on WP:AfD to gain other's opinions. I am sorry I never replied to your initial question, however, I thought I had done, so my apologies there.

You mention a problem with your signature, try looking in "preferences" at the top of the screen, and see what's in the "nickname" box. That might sort it. Otherwise, type it out in full below, and I'll see if I've got any suggestions. UkPaolo/talk 22:42, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

UkPaolo, I understand you think Treehouse has no content. What is weird is you didn't do that to all the rest of the new episodes that have no content and that's what really got me concerned for you just to pick Treehouse. One other thing, I'm not going to add anything until I hear about the plot so let me check to make sure no other pages have a plot and then I'll let you post to WP:AFD. Checxk, the Treehouse discussion page to see if I found anything. Secondly, the reason why I started the new episodes (Season 4), is we'll have to make them once were out and I sort of did it ahead of time. As you can see above, FBV65EDEL is commenting about my signature although he never replied back. Went up to prefrences, nothing in the nickname box. What I was wondering about is (name after UTC) ForestH2 00:07, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Forest H2. Everyone else gets date etc. and then UTC but doesn't get there name after that. So now, I sign like how I've been signing. ForestH2

Hey ForestH2, I was logged out as I was editing again. I am still using the same IP address now, is there any way to have history show my User name instead of the IP address?Sarreau 13:50, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

My RFA

Hello ForestH2/April 14th, 2006 to May 18th, 2006, and thanks for supporting me on my recent request for adminship! It has succeeded with an unanimous support of 67 votes, so that I am now an administrator. Please feel free to leave a note on my talk page should you wish to leave any comments or ask for any help. Again, thanks a lot, AndyZ t 22:00, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. If I have a request about a IP adress or a user being blocked or page protection, can I contact you? ForestH2

Hmm... I counted ~10 vandalistic edits in the history, which I don't believe is considered heavy vandalism by WP:SPP. Anyhow, I would suggest listing this article at WP:RFP to allow other admins to review the article and determine if it should be protected. Thanks, AndyZ t 01:29, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Wolf Pictures

Thanks for the tip. If I can find any pictures on a website of the National Park Service or a zoo, would they be copywrited? (Don't want to cause any legal problems.) Wild Wolf 01:47, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Citations for Fletcher et. al.

Hey Forest, if what you're asking me is why weren't those citations, to TLC's "confirmation", deleted before, the answer is I frankly didn't notice them until you called attention to them in your recent edits. But by "old citations," what do you mean? I'm a bit confused... --Fbv65edel (discuss | contribs) 13:30, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Ooh, my bad about Fletcher, I think I had followed the wrong link there. That should be left, as I see you did so. Sorry again. But be careful when you revert, in your latest edit on the OoP article, you took out a correct reference format. I'll fix that. And also, about Trelawney, her inclusion is not confirmed by WB, as said in the Leaky article, but I see the sort of encyclopedic value about rumors that we've been discussing lately, so... I think it should be classified as a rumor, as no other site reported it and WB didn't say anything about it. Sorry once again, this was my error. --Fbv65edel (discuss | contribs) 13:54, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Old Citations from December, January 2005, 2006. The one for Fletcher is from February 2006. ForestH2

About the RFA message you left to me on my talk page

Were you talking about my user box? Because I don't remember adding an RFA. And I have more than 32, I think. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cracker017 (talkcontribs)

I'm not sure why you deleted the userbox from User:Cracker017. Cracker017 is entitled to aim to be an admin, even if it's not for a while. Nationalparks 20:54, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

You said: I've asked this user to agree not to blank his talk page. If he agrees do you wish to unblock him?

I wasn't the one who blocked him. He was blocked for forging signatures on an RfA. Please see my follow-up comments on his talk page. --Yamla 22:28, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
Now's that's terrible. How long is he blocked? ForestH2
He's blocked indefinitely. Really, this should probably go to a request for arbitration or something.  :) I'm unconvinced that an indefinite block was warranted but I'm probably far too liberal on that topic. --Yamla 22:34, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

David Shield recreated the article about Joel Leyden, an obscure Israeli blogger who has been spamming Wikipedia and making legal threats against other users. He knew what he was doing. Danny 01:34, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for responding to me

Thank you for responding to my "help me" Wiki request. The problem seems to have "fixed itself" after a few minutes. Maybe Hermione Granger cast a spell: "Wiki-Repairum."  :) ProfessorPaul 01:39, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Creating references

About creating references… the wikimarkup is <ref name=name-separated-by-hyphens>{{cite news | url=http://www.example.com | title=Latest Info About Movie 5 | date=[[2006]]-[[May 10|05-10]] | publisher=Example Fan Site}}</ref>. I hope that works for you. I don't know why it shouldn't. :-) PS You can also see the page Wikipedia:Template messages/Sources of articles#Citations of generic sources --Fbv65edel (discuss | contribs) 02:15, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Maybe you are using some characters incorrectly, I don't know. The | is shift+button below delete. Often times I forget to close the {{cite news with the }} or the ref tag. If you test it on this page, you will have to create a section and include the tag and only the tag <references/>. --Fbv65edel (discuss | contribs) 02:20, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

[1]

Looks fine to me. I adjusted the date as it should appear, but it looks good. I'd do the same thing on the page and see what happens. One thing may be that your ref name may have already been used elsewhere on the page. In that case, try using a more specific name. --Fbv65edel (discuss | contribs) 12:08, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

I see the problem. You didn't close the {{cite news}}. After you write all the information like title, date, etc., you have to put }} and then </ref>. That clear? --Fbv65edel (discuss | contribs) 02:01, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

I meant that if there's a news article, say from HPANA, that says that there's an interview with so-and-so, don't link to the news piece, link to the article if possible. If there's no link, search around for it, and if you can't find it, only then link to the news post. Linking to fan sites that say they have confirmation from WB is okay because there's nowhere else the info can be found. Enjoy your wikibreak! --Fbv65edel (discuss | contribs) 14:01, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

"You should have at least 3-5 months on Wikipedia before your nominated. Need more time." was your opppose reason. BTW I have been here for nearly four months. Anyway I don't mind as this has been probably the most positive failed RFA, with nearly all people opposing for only my lack of time spent while appreciating my contributions. Thanks. Harry Potter

Ok cool. Just wasn't sure if I was the only one thinking its ridiculous. I was thinking "When it says preliminary, its stating it as probable, so why should THAT need citation?". - RedHot 22:44, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Yeah looks fine. I also just noticed, it said "It is quite possible...." and it certainly isn't "quite" possible for Hermione to be written out. - RedHot 22:47, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Stanford Sierra Camp

In short, the article as it stands reads too much like an advertisement/how-to, and doesn't say just why SSC is such a standout from all the other thousands of summer camps and merits an article. --maru (talk) contribs 02:21, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

  • On two particular episodes, the character list is 6 (Help Wanted) and 7 (Sailor Mouth). Since the list is so small, I don't see any point of organizing them into main, major, and minor. -AMK152 02:34, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

ADMIN

cool thanks for your help! kind regurds Touth 21:11, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi! Just to let you know, I've removed your vandalism report; a quick perusal suggests this should go through the dispute resolution process instead. Also, may I ask that you sign all your posts with four tildes (~~~~)—this automatically signs and date-stamps all posts, which assists the system and its users in several ways. Thanks. :) RadioKirk talk to me 23:15, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

The fourth tilde adds the date and time; this can be hugely important if, for example, you ask an admin or some other user to look into vandalism or other disputes, and we can see, "okay, Person A made this edit at this time, and Person B..." etc. :) RadioKirk talk to me 23:23, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
I've never seen that before. Did you use the tildes and type out the name together? Try the four tildes and nothing else when you reply to this message; if there's a glitch, I'll need to get together with a developer and see what's wrong. Thanks :) RadioKirk talk to me 23:29, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I've got it. Click "my preferences" and blank where it says "Nickname:". This is for altering the appearance of your sig, like mine is in a different font and color. When it's blank, write me again with just the four tildes. RadioKirk talk to me 23:33, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
Alright, one more: uncheck the box and try again. RadioKirk talk to me 23:40, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

SpongeBob songs

  • The lyrics have been removed and have been stated as "copyrighted." What shall we do? if the lyrics stay off of the page, then that page is pointless. -AMK152 23:31, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
    • What makes you think they're not copyrighted? They're creative works by Nickelodeon. The article should be exactly what it's named, a list of songs in Spongebob Squarepants. --Rory096 01:17, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
      • No, you should not have the lyrics if they're violating copyright. --Rory096 01:20, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Don't Judge So Quickly

If you would look at the article, you would see that you put the Gryffindor Quidditch Team in the cast list not once, but twice. Frankly, I don't see any reason why it should be twice, so I took the liberty of deleting it. But you have to come in and penalize me for deleting it, revert my correction, and subsequentially make an idiot of yourself. You aren't the owner of this article. Make some room for people who want to fix it. I will be deleting your wrongly placed warning from my talk page, and I will be reverting the article to the correct version. Thank you for your time. --Chris 01:25, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Half Blood Prince List Problem

I am trying to solve this problem in a civilized way. If you would please look at the current list here, you will see that the quidditch team is listed twice. I am now asking your permission to remove it from the list, rather than you accusing me of vandalism just to cover up your mistake of reverting a fix. Thank you. --Chris 04:18, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

I am far from vandalizing the page. I am simply removing an uneccessary, duplicated entry within a list. Lists need not have duplicates unless there is a good reason. I cannot see one. Please refrain from attacking me without proper cause. --Chris 04:18, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

I don't mean to intrude, here, but since I was posting the reply about Touth below I read these comments. It is clear that Chris was justified in removing the Griffindor Quidditch team from the list (since it was a duplicate entry) although it would have helped if he had left an initial edit summary to this effect. That said, follow up reversions did make this point, please do not continue to edit war or make accusations of vandalism over this change. UkPaolo/talk 13:21, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Touth as an admin

I wonder about answering this one..... You see, I didn't want to get Touth's hopes down. Actully, I know you need to have AT least 1,000 edits on the English or you know 5-8 months before becoming an admin. I suggest Touth thinks about just editing for another 4 months....ForestH2 Furthermore I told him that he could become an admin any time he wanted and it sounded like he really wanted do this so I said 100 edits but as you and I know it's 1,000 edits or 5-8 months.

So long as you understand. I see what you mean, and I would hate to discourage Touth from editing, but I think honesty is the best policy here. He's never going to gain support in an RFA with such little experience. UkPaolo/talk 13:21, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Cristian Coulson

I'm assuming this is a genuine mistake, and as such it's kind of cute, actually. Little Britain is actually the name of a hugely popular British TV series that Coulson appeared in. Thus, he is a "Little Britain actor". I'm rv-ing his article. Amo 14:34, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

HP Edits

We told you more than once in the edit summaries, as well as on your talk page, which you just so happened to archive here:

  • 23:20, May 17, 2006 Russoc4 (removing an unnessecary, duplicate entry. quidditch team is listed twice.)
  • 22:27, May 17, 2006 Apostrophe (Again, it is on the list twice and is redundant. Stop being hardheaded.)
  • 22:23, May 17, 2006 Apostrophe (LOOK AT THE LIST. THE NAME IS ON THE LIST TWICE.)

If you plan on making edits to the page every 15 minutes, I suggest you take a look at the content before criticizing. I hope that we may move on from this. I will assume that I may remove my vandalism warning from my talk page. Thank you. --Chris 14:49, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Your recent contributions

Forest: I strongly warn you against making threats such as this. Whilst it is good practice to leave useful edit summaries, a user will not be blocked for failing to do so, when making perfectly good contributions. Furthermore, per Chris' post above, edit summaries were left, as were comments on your talk page. Also, this message which you left implies that you intentionally reverted to prove a point: something for which along with having broken the 3RR, I should warn you you risk being blocked for. I suggest you do decide this matter is now closed. UkPaolo/talk 15:04, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
