Hi, dgl, I've seen your contributions in a few of the Islam-related articles. You seem to have some academic background. Please stay! Please help! I don't have a formal academic background in Islamic studies (though I'm doing my best to make up the deficiency) and I'm often the only person standing up for what I see as a NPOV academic position against two constituencies -- the anti-Muslim bigots and the believing Muslims. I get bashed from both sides. On one and the same day, I got called an "Islamo-fascist bitch" and a "Zionist enforcer" -- that was fun.

Got a copy of the Ibn Taymiyya article

A kind soul with access to an online subscription to an academic article service copied it and sent it to me. Despite the provocative title, it was actually a fairly straightforward article.

Hi. I wonder if you wouldn't mind taking a look at the article above, and expanding it further, or adding any sources appropriate for our English Wikipedia. I've already built it from a one-sentence stub using the sum total of my knowledge on the subject. Specifically, someone raised questions about the etymology of Semitic definite articles that I just couldn't answer. actually you got me wrong ! i was actually saying that no expedition against sassanid persian empire was sent by prophet Mohammad(as it is mentioned in the article that " Already in the last years of the life of Muhammad, organized raids began attacking the Sassanid and the Byzantine frontiers (because of their constant threat to attack Arabs in Medina). " , yes against the Ghassanid Arabs two were sent Mutah and Usama ibn Zaid's expedition (Which actually was finally sent after prophet Mohammad's death). And first raids in the Sassanid land was actually leaded by Misna ibn Haris the chief of Bani Bakr tribe, as mentioned in Tabari: Vol. 2, p. 552, after Ridda wars. it was then, that Abu Bakr thought to invade sassanid persians and sent his brilliant general khalid leading 18,000 troops, as mentioned in Tabari: Vol. 2, pp. 553-4.. so therefore the article heavily needs rewrite to provide at least authentic info about the battle it self.. as the article is blank about any tactics used by General of Rashidun army to win the battle etc etc. And once again thanks for your comments.
