Sorry but I disagree you. We have ethnic census. The problem is, you must be able to read to understand it. I strongly advice,that you, should adapt to the most possible latest figures. Unfortunately I still see figures from 2001-2. Aina have been working on with this Assyrian census for a while, that's why I see Aina.org as a more reliable source.Regards Suryoye

Khon, did you ask the CIA? I never mentioned Syria and Iraq. Worth to add that Iraq has not made any ethnic census since 1979. Of course that exact figures prove impossible to obtain, so all ethnic census are estimates. But you can always choose which one that looks reliable.

Assyrian population

I hate to see when more than just one info is completely wrong. I live in Sweden, and there is no way that 35,000 assyrians live here. A more accurate number of Assyrians in Sweden are 100,000 and growing. I'm not the only one that complain over this population issue so I think it's time to in fact realize that your numbers are utterly wrong. Assyrian people

Please at least source your content there are numerous websites stating there are over 2 million Assyrians, " The total Assyrian population, including the Diaspora, is estimated at 3.3 million, with the majority living in the former Mesopotamia region" [1], "According to figures from the time of Saddam Hussein as recently as 2003 the population of Assyrian Christians within Iraq was put at 2.5 million" [2], not to mention this on wiki, "There are now an estimated 800,000 Assyrians living in the homeland (Assyria) in and around Nineveh and other part of Assyria. the current Assyrian population worldwide is estimated at 3.3 million." According to WP:MOSBIO, "Nationality (In the normal case this will mean the country of which the person is a citizen or national, or was a citizen when the person became notable. I am wanting to go forward with creating and developing content about the early Christian communities in Asia minor. There appears to be systematic bias against posting some of this history on wikipedia. Through edit and revert warring it appears that wikipedia has it's own thought police. Encyclopaedia of the Orient

Discussing things on a talk page, doesn't make sources reliable. Could you explain to me how the Encyclopaedia of the Orient can be considered reliable? There is not a single source mentioned in the entire article! Remember that this is an encylopaedia (or should be, at least), not an Assyrianist propaganda machine.

Unsourced or poorly sourced edits may be challenged and removed at any time. Sometimes it is better to have no information at all than to have information without a source." Quite simple:

Tertiary sources are reference books such as dictionaries, general encyclopedias and almanacs. These sources generally lack adequate coverage of the topic to be considered comprehensive where arguments are subtle and nuanced. They generally do not discuss and evaluate alternative interpretations. Tertiary sources used for basic facts such as names, spellings, locations, dates and dimensions do not need to be cited. Tertiary sources used for more substantive facts do need to be cited. Some tertiary sources are more reliable than others, and within any given tertiary source, some articles may be more reliable than others. For example, articles signed by experts in Encyclopaedia Britannica and encyclopedias of similar quality can be regarded as reliable secondary sources instead of tertiary ones. Unsigned articles may be less reliable, but they may be used so long as the encyclopedia is a high quality one.

"government census" Dude I'm an Assyrian, most of my people come from these areas and during the period of Saddam Hussein there was an estimated 10 million Assyrians/Cheldans/Syriacs worldwide, most located in Ninawa province. In Iraq today are more than 1.5million. 800,000 doesn't sound realistic to me.

Hormuzd Rassam

I was wondering how familiar you are with Hormuzd Rassam, the Chaldean Catholic Assyriologist from the late 19th century. In a very old book about ancient Assyria I purchased from ebay last year, called "Babylon and Nineveh" by J.P. Newman, there is a letter from Hormuzd Rassam to the author of the book, in which he writes about the native Christians, namely the Assyrians. In his letter, he always refers to the Assyrians as "Chaldeans", but he makes the point that the terms "Chaldean" and "Assyrian" were synonymous terms (he also lists other terms with which they are synonymous, including "Nestorian/Nestornayeh", and "Sourayeh"). Coming from an Assyrian from the pre-nationalistic era, and arguably an authority on the Assyrian people, I think Hormuzd Rassam's letter, and more importantly his mention of the Assyrian people, is of great significance.

That's a good point. The page is getting very long, and it is in dire need of editing - the main problem with the Assyrian people article is that there is a lot of bias and misconceptions. When I have time, I'm going to devote some time towards editing it. Why do you people and especially you who call yourself Chaldean keep calling chaldeans assyrians. Have you ever heard of the story of 2 brothers called Chaldo and Ahsur. From them came the desendant we now call chaldeans and assyrians. You call us assyrians chaldeans because we are catholic, because by your intelligence we are assyrians who converted to the catholic church. This is not correct, we are closely related since Chaldo and Ashur were brothers. But towards the respect of us call us chaldeans since we are not assyrians. Fair use image use

Greetings. I've noticed that you are reverting the removal of fair use images from various templates. Alqosh or Alqush is a Chaldean village

I don't mean to start a war here but I'm orginally from Alqush and it's clearly a Chaldean village. I have looked at the logs and I noticed that you keep changing everyone's edit back to Assyrian. Why do you keep on insisting it's Assyrain, it's not. Also the writing is in Chaldean (neo Aramiac language). What are your reasons for these changes?

I appreciate the support and comments. Also, I believe I can speak on behalf of the whole Chaldean/Assyrian population when I say you're doing a great job spreading the word about us. However, I do have to disagree with you, I'm orginally from Alqosh, and both of my parents are from Alqosh. I confirmed with them and a few more people about the whole Chaldean/Assyrian confusion and all told me it's a pure Chaldean village. Even our church is called the Chaldean Church. Even if you say Toma Thomas said he is Assyrian, even though I don't know when he said that, you can not base the village’s ethnicity on a word of one man's perspective. I would like you to not edit it back to Assyrian, you are doing a great job with these articles but they need to be as accurate as possible. We all could use the help of others. Also, if you would like for any of the articles to be proof read to check for grammar and such errors, I'll be more than glad to help you on that. Thank you...

While I won't provide a third opinion on the content issue (as I honestly have not the first clue which one of you is correct), I certainly note that you too have been engaged in edit warring, and made your own threat to continue it [8]. Hopefully a third opinion will clear up the matter. If it does not, however, I would strongly encourage you and the anonymous editor to seek dispute resolution such as mediation. Assyrian-stub

I have reverted back the reversions you made to the stub articles that formerly had that stub type. (As well as one article in which I kept that stub type but made other changes.) Because of the inherently controversial nature of such stubs, the Stub Sorting project is not fond of using ethnicity to sort stubs save where the subject is notable specifically because of that ethnicity. In the case of people that is usually because of a contribution to that ethncity's culture, or because they are notable specifically because they fought for their ethic group's civil rights. While the eight biography articles in question are of persons for which Assyrian ancestry is asserted, nowhere in them does it say they are notable because of that ancestry or culture. Worse, your kneejerk reversions removed other stub templates I added such as boxing-bio-stub that clearly would be warranted and cleanup templates such as unreferenced. Applying this stub in a scattergun fashion on anything remotely related, even if the subject is not primarily noted for being Assyrian will increase its chances of being deleted from use as a stub type that is not being used responsibly is worse than no stub type at all. Oh, I see what the issue was. The logo is a fair use image and thus may not be used anywhere outside of the article mainspace. Since the template now consists only of a link to the Al-Zawraa article, and since one can just as easily just type "[[Al-Zawraa]]" instead of "{{Zawraa}}", would you mind if I deleted the page per speedy deletion criterion G7 (author request)? I don't think semi-protection is warranted under the current protection policy, mostly because other avenues haven't been pursued yet. I've watchlisted both pages and left a notice at the user talk page of the most recent IP editor (see here) asking him or her to discuss controversial changes on the article's talk page. I know that this IP is not the only one to change "Assyrian" to "Chaldean", but he or she is the one most active in June. If he or she stops, that should at least temporarily alleviate the need for semi-protection. If not, I'll reconsider protection, as well as a temporary block for disruption. In the meantime, you can do the following: (1) Add a hidden message to the article asking that people not change "Assyrian" to "Chaldean" by adding <! -- Type message here -->. This may not deter anyone, but it's worth a try. (2) After reverting, warn users with an appropriate warning template; if they persist, report them to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism, where they may be blocked. Hey Chaldean I would like to add more about the Assyrian church to the article History of the Orthodox church article under at least the Orthodoxy under other Muslims regimes of the Middle East section. Can you do me a favor?

I noticed you're Assyrian, and I was wondering if you can add in your Assyrian form of "Armenians", which I heard is Armani to this day right? Its amazing your ancestors record in 2300 BC by Naram-Sim is written Armani. You still refer to us with that form right? :) Persians and Arabs also refer to us with that form. This foolish admin Dbachmann doesnt believe me, he thinks Im making this up. Can you please put it in Armens page, its in the bottom part where you see the chart of different people referring to us in their forms. You will notice the Assyrian box is empty, thats where Im asking you to please put your version Armani.
