Sorry for the delay

Hi, sorry for the delay in my answer to your message, I have just seen it. I'm very sorry, but for the moment I have no time for Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on Aurat March requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.aboardthedemocracytrain.com/instep-today-aurat-march-2018-freedom-over-fear. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disambiguation link notification for April 22

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Feminism in Pakistan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Moral policing (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Request of Help

I was looking for some small help. I created an article User:Bookku/Me Too movement (Pakistan) in user namespace. Article is almost ready but before taking to main namespace Looking for help in English language Spell-check, punctuation, grammar check and corrections. Using better alternative words etc. Thanks in advance.

Shirkat gah moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Shirkat gah, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. — Sagotreespirit (talk) 13:01, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

Draft:Me Too movement (Pakistan)‎

I've made it through the draft and still would encourage you to clarify with Earwig for any copyvios. In the future, may I suggest two rules for creating articles, as even in a draft copyright violations are unacceptable on wikipedia:

  • Never copy and paste anything into a Wikipedia article/draft.
  • Always write information in your own words.

If you are satisfied with the article but unable to move it to mainspace yourself, post again on Women in Red and someone will be glad to assist. I would not recommend submitting the draft to Articles for Creation, as they are backlogged. Happy editing. SusunW (talk) 21:16, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

@ SusunW
Hello, once again I don't have words for your great & timely support & guidance. As suggested by you I used Earwig & replaced a little more grammar & words. While doing so some times I get uncomfortable feeling to compromise grammar & words & dilute impact of original author just for the copyvio sake, I understand there is no other way out.
Any ways as suggested by you, I took article in main name space & just now some one assessed article to 'B' class & I am happy. Almost a year back I added period wise formatting to article Feminism in Pakistan besides created one more article Aurat March coming month some time I will update them if time permits.
Thanks again & warm regards

SusunW In last week some time I had created a stub article about a Pakistani feminist Sadia Khatri who works on unavailability of public spaces to Pakistani women but due to lack of enough sources left in between.

There was one more feminist Sabeen Mahmud who paid with her life for defending women right of choice, so last couple of days worked on article User:Bookku/Valentine's Day in Pakistan if you can spare some time for this article too I will be obliged.

Next I want to work on more feminist views / perspectives on Hijab day but that will take longer time for me.

Thanks & warm regards

SusunW Thanks, you can take your time. Actually this article I am looking for paragraph chronology support -which you are good at- apart from regular copy edit support.

Since on previous article you faced edit war, this time I will be posting requests on talk pages with gap of a day or so.

Thanks & warm regards

Bookku (talk) 03:44, 28 January 2020 (UTC)

Sorry that I am so slow, but because I am unfamiliar with the topics you write about, I read the sources before I rework the sections. I have finished with Valentine's Day. Please feel free to revert or make any changes if you do not agree with my edits. SusunW (talk) 20:37, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

@ SusunW,

My previous article Aurat March has been tagged with "This article provides insufficient context for those unfamiliar with the subject", Which I still need to address. This time I provided context and got tagged for being "essay like". When it comes to human rights my edges are usually sharp; you helped smooth those sharp edges and being encyclopedic. Being unfamiliar helps you in maintaining neutrality too.

At the most I can put in good amount of online research and collation Where as you have got all encyclopedic skills plus will to support and I am very much thankful to you for the same.

  • Request for revisit

Only 2 places I wish if you can revisit

1) At intro paragraph "...supported by merchants who can increase their prices during the week preceding February 14th."
My earlier purpose of mention of 'increase of price' was to indirectly indicate that there is demand in the Market that means it's a popular celebration.
Critics do have different version against commercial establishment benefiting from and supporting the celebrations.
2) Subsection heading "Against" in section "Public reaction" One is we have already covered main against group in detail in 'Antagonism' section. Second is the group suggesting substitution seem to play more of 'escapist' role by employing diversion.
I couldn't think of alternative word for subsection title "Against" as of now, but may be we can explore some different title in days to come.

As said earlier, I am very much pleased with your kind proactive support. Thanks and warm regards.

Mi cuerpo es mío

Hello, nice to greet you again! the most used expression in Spanish that you refer to is "Mi cuerpo es mío" "My body is mine" and indeed the call for women in the registry was a performance by the artist Yolanda Dominguez. https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yolanda_Dom%C3%ADnguez

You can learn more about the action in these two newspaper texts:

https://www.eldiario.es/sociedad/registro-mercantil-Madrid-estudiara-inscripcion_0_227477549.html

https://elpais.com/politica/2014/02/06/actualidad/1391707776_096749.html

But as Veronica León Buch says in:

Beyond the body: feminism as an emancipatory project:
http://www.mujeresenred.net/spip.php?article2202

"My body is mine", a slogan that emerged in the second wave of feminism, has remained a milestone to denounce violence against women and promote the decriminalization of abortion. It seems important to me to point out how this type of slogan, which I myself used for years, beyond the importance of the causes it claims, hides an ambiguous post-feminist discourse, which calls us to display greater creativity and critical spirit in search of new concepts. The first ambiguity is in the emphasis on the body, reinforcing its objectification: we own the body, we are not. This language fails to question the imaginaries that reduce us to a body or to be its administrators. Linked to this idea is that of commodification, through the language of property. Capitalism has taken pains to invent property mechanisms - property titles, patents, intellectual property - to commercialize what was previously non-transferable: land, ideas, knowledge. Thus, actions such as the one carried out in Spain, from going to the Property Registry to registering their bodies, from a capitalist point of view represents the first step to be able to trade it. Associating property rights, something characteristic of neoliberalism, weakens other possibilities, such as proposing non-appropriable and non-merchantable intangibles: air, water, human beings ... And finally, although this slogan promotes the Autonomy also points to individualization. Being mine, am I responsible for what happens to that body? Even if it is not violated? Wouldn't it make more sense to expect that, as a society, we all watch together so that no person is ever raped? The neoliberal imaginary always seeks to disarticulate societies, individualizing their problems, placing all responsibility on the choices of each person, while making invisible the external factors that condition and the economic structure designed to generate inequality.

Building autonomy and a sense of connection with oneself is still fundamental for women, but perhaps it makes more sense to think of discourses that reaffirm us as subjects. This type of slogan has also not been the most effective in promoting abortion decriminalization. In countries where it has been decriminalized, feminists knew how to position it as a problem of public health and social exclusion: while wealthy women abort in all safety, humble women die from aborting in conditions of risk. Abortion is more related to a decision about being a mother than to the body and it is pertinent to approach it from there: motherhood cannot be an imposition, it is a very serious decision that requires an endless number of emotional and material conditions. Tackling it from the body, on the other hand, places it as a dispute between individuals and States over the control of that object-body, failing to position ourselves as subjects and questioning the pardon that men enjoy in the matter. This type of language anchored in individualism and the body, in addition, has failed to generate consensus in public opinion - without which politicians hardly risk it - but has generated adverse reactions. And it is that along with neoliberalism we have also seen the resurgence of old traditions and fundamentalisms, a symptom of a failed revolution.

Sorry, I am not looking for just dictionary definitions and general information , but as Metaphor associated with Aurat.
Metaphor is defined as "a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable." For example "Daaman" being 'pak' or 'Napak' means here we don't take Daaman literally. Or "Daag/ Spot" in Chunari etc. Or another example would be in old Indian movies show two flowers touching each other instead of Hero Heroin becoming intimate.
And again how these metaphors help express cultural life of Aurat. Few of metaphors will be available in English sources online. I am looking for help from various Indian and Pakistani language sources like Urdu, Sindhi, Hindi literature / drama /movies etc. I suppose those would be available at least to some extent online one will need to take search in those languages.
Searching with Tasawwoor Aurat also gives some Urdu language sources. I am looking for including such information.
Thanks for your help Bookku (talk) 09:00, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

Bokku could you please provide me any English metaphor for aurat, so I may assist you to find in other languages Majun e Baqi (talk) 07:30, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

Since you asked I will give you few examples. But rather I prefer if one starts from non-English languages, so you can start from native languages and include positive impressions on traditional minds of people better. Feminists agree that South Asian women are represented as "cultural emblem". But they avoid describing what does "Cultural emblem" tasawwoor 'cultural image' means; that meaning needs to be caught from native language literature; we don't find much traditional image relating to 'haya' etc.much in English descriptions where you find it more times it will be critical. You will find usually more of mentions in English are critical. In Wikipedia we have to cover both rather all aspects positive impressions in traditional minds and criticism too. Any ways since you asked I give few example.

  • in this one metaphor of 'Suna angan' vis a vis 'tanha aurat' has been analyzed. In this Rekhti related book Gender, Sex, and the City: Urdu Rekhti Poetry in India, 1780-1870 metaphor of 'Kasbi Aurat' is discussed, a Pakistani academic journal [jgsi.fjwu.edu.pk/jgsi/article/view/61 Gender Representation through Animal Metaphors] discusses metaphors vis a vis animals like "Oont ki pakar aur aurat kay maker.." etc. but again as I said If you start from English you will remain in only critical circle, other side of the image in minds of North South Asia i.e. North India and Pakistan will not get proper representation without covering Urdu and Hindi sources for image tasawwoor of south Asian 'Aurat' and related metaphors. IMHO.

Thanks

Thanks, Exactly while some Femists and liberal even other religious thoughts would criticize such metaphors, traditional people of that culture take it positively, discussing such metaphors help understand cultural nuances and cultural image. I suppose such refs would be available in ample numbers in Hindi and Urdu literature drama and movies. I am looking for development of the article on similar lines. Thanks again for your support to the article. Bookku (talk) 16:49, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

Sexual politics - question

Hey - just wanted to make sure you'd seen my final question to you the other day about whether you're fine if I take the "sexual politics" draft you've got and just "do it live", as a certain famous demagogue put it? Cleopatran Apocalypse (talk) 12:38, 14 July 2020 (UTC)

@Cleopatran Apocalypse: greetings. Personally I would't have issues. But my personal experience on Wikipedia up till now does not make me enthusiastic of that prospect. As you suggest, well linked space is supposed to bring in more authors from diverse fields. But unfortunately I do not find Wikipedia environment friendly enough. Here curators over ride encyclopedic writers, they don't do even curation but only put up intimidating hat note notices and intimidate genuine encyclopedic writers too in various manners.
Curators want articles spick and span right from first moment. Right now article does not have even two paragraphs, they might harass the article like nothing.
As said above I have my reservations not to your idea but about restrictive Wikipedia culture, Still I leave that to your conscience and good faith. Thanks and best wishes. Bookku (talk) 16:48, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
Thanks friend. Though I have no taste for the company or the individual who founded it, I generally try to follow the Facebook motto of "move fast and break things." Doesn't always work, but it seems the best way to do things. I wouldn't worry about the haters. Just do good work, do it for fun, and keep doing it! The interest for me in your alerting me to this article is that it is the overarching theme that was tying together some of my recent professional and wikipedia interests, and I didn't quite realize that this was the uniting concept. I was examining different parts of the elephant, but didn't know that Sexual Politics was actually the elephant. Cleopatran Apocalypse (talk) 02:00, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
I do concur with your metaphor of 'the elephant' for sexual politics. You seem to be really enthusiastic then I would support you whole heart. Pl. do go ahead with your plan of trimming and moving to main space. We will see what happens.
At my speed of research and expansion of article it is likely to take couple of more months more. If your steps succeed in getting more editors to write it will help me save my effort and energy quite a bit.
Looking forwards to steps you take. Thanks for your enthusiastic support, and best wishes. Bookku (talk) 10:12, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

I searched deletion log in ja.wikipedia.org and also on English Wikipedia. I did not find any deletion up till now. How did you write Page title Kithaab in Japanese script, I will try to search deletion log with that on Japanese Wikipedia.
Since you have already done effort, I will try to know more about the issue on Japanese Wikipedia since not only Chinese but many other major languages including German, French, Russian do have the article.
Waiting for your response. Thanks and warm regards

Hi there, Bookku. Given your recent contributions and your general interest in improving coverage of women, I think it would be useful for you to become a member of Women in Red. You can do so by clicking on "Join WikiProject" in the box at the top of our Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red page.--Ipigott (talk) 09:27, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

AfD

Hi after our exchange here I wanted to get in touch with you. I don't remember seeing your name in discussions at Articles for Deletion before, so I'm not sure how familiar you are with its procedures. Basically it goes like this - if you see an article on a topic you think is not notable, you do a ton of work searching for sources, and if nothing useful turns up, you nominate it at AFD and set out a case for why the topic does not belong on Wikipedia. There are borderline cases where the nominator is not certain and is asking the community for consensus. Nominating articles without doing this research, without clearly stating a rationale for deletion, and nominating them while another discussion is going on about the article elsewhere, is not going to win you any friends and may be considered disruptive. It takes a lot of work to nominate an article and if you see something you think ought to be deleted in future, please feel free to ask me for help. All the best Mccapra (talk) 11:02, 7 September 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for your guidance. I was particularly concerned with statement "...Since there's no clear connection between superstition and particular religions, the current article seem to be a fake topic with a PoV to advance (or is easily taken for one, whatever the intent was)...." I did not and do not know how to co-related that with notability issues and AfD rules. That part of the statement made me to seek AfD community feed back. Thanks Bookku (talk) 12:07, 7 September 2020 (UTC)

1) At this moment, in particular I was searching for Circassian women's folk songs, and own writings of non elite Circassian women slaves or research papers of modern Circassian women themselves. Please do share sources on specially Circassians folk songs.
2)@ User:Adigabrek, I came across articles Umm walad and Qiyan too, Please do support these article expansion if you feel interested in the encyclopedic topics.

  • @Khilari&historian: Thanks, Actually admins accepted primary level but fresh draft prepared by me and restored the article Women related laws in Pakistan (That's why temporary draft talk page has been deleted). What I wrote is just primary level and Still the article Women related laws in Pakistan needs lot of expansion and update. Besides if you organize any edit events in future pl. add this article for updating list because laws is a thing which always needs if not yearly at least two yearly update. Looking forward to your contributions and support. Thanks and regards Bookku (talk) 15:55, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
