Hmm?[edit]

I didn't understand your question on my talk page at all. I also checked out the Shushi Massacre article, removed the reference to White Genocide, which Armenians use to describe assimilation due to forced deportation from our homelands which have not been recovered. I also wonder, was Shushi a part of Armenia or Azerbaijan in 1920, or neither - in a disputed no-mans-land? In any case, you should put reliable citations for each statement on the Shushi Massacre article. --RaffiKojian 06:42, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for one week for posting numerous copyright violations. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by replying here on your talk page by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}}. Request reason:

Armenica has a policy that lets you use there images and its already watermarked so theres no problem "

Reference to Armenica.org and the URL of the site must be included when material taken from Armenica.org is used or presented in any published work. "

Decline reason:

See below

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

There are problems, the permission from Armenica is inadequate for use in wikipedia. The "Free" part of the free encylopedia means in the expansive "freedom" sense, people should be free to take the material on wikipedia and use it in anyway they see fit, including making modifications to the items. (The only exception being the use of unlicensed images under specific fair use rationales, but this is discouraged and is not permitted if a free equivelant is available or could be created.). From the site in question

  • Material taken from Armenica.org must not be altered or modified without permission from Armenica.org

This in itself breaks the above, people are not free to take the material and edit it. The other restrictions similarly break the free element of the licensing required. --pgk 22:05, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also see conributors rights and obligations which require either you are the copyright holder and releasing the work under the GFDL or the source allows such licensing, the Armenica license as above is not the GFDL. --pgk 22:08, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Russian History Project[edit]

Hi N:

I'm one of a group of Russian historians who are considering setting up a WP Russian history project. Most of the members of this group are history professors, and their primary interest is to see that WP entries on Russian history are accurate and well categorized, primarily because their students use them all the time. WP has really become the source of first resort for many students, so we need to make sure it's trustworthy. The idea itself was generated on two professional listserv, H-Russia (http://www.h-net.org/~russia/) and H-EarlySlavic (http://www.h-net.org/~ess/). The logs of the on-going discussion are there if you would like to review them.

We'd like your help (as a WP expert) and cooperation. The division between historical and contemporary articles is a natural one. We would concentrate on the former and you could cover the latter, though a certain amount of overlap is to be expected (and, I think, to be encouraged--I've signed up for your Russia Project).

If you are interested in knowing more about me, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshall_Poe. You can email me at marshallpoe at gmail dt com. MarshallPoe 15:22, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS: I'm also going to contact the folks at the Russia Portal.

This blocked user's request to have autoblock on their IP address lifted has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request.
