I have now joined the Hindu WikiProject. If you have any questions, please ask me. Happy editing! S.D. ¿п? 23:24, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

...for joining the Hinduism project! We are always in need of contributers, regardless of activity. We will surely benifit from you :) Arjun 01:51, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll help anyway I can, just notify me! By the way, great work over there at the Hinduism Portal! Cheers! S.D. ¿п? § 01:54, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Re: Whats happining :)

Sorry for the late reply, I noticed it, then...forgot. Wikipedia's been pretty good lately, I'm still a little stressed from the Mario Party edit war, but not as much. What do you think of my work at List of Luigi's Mansion ghosts? I removed a lot of walkthroughish stuff from it, and changed it to a table format (though I didn't do nearly as good a job as you did on List of Stratocaster players). Yep, that's pretty much it. How are you? –Llama man 00:39, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Sound laws

I saw that you removed reference to the Indo -European sound laws from the Hinduism page. I personally agree that that detail is unnecessary for the article. However the inclusion of the phrase does serve a "defensive" purpose in that we can use it to ward of people who want to either (1) want to expand on the s-> h shift in this article itself or (2) want to introduce their own favorite theory (see this which is periodically added to the Hindu article.) So it may be better to leave the sentence in, though perhaps as a footnote. What do you think ? Abecedare 03:30, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

That is what I thought, lets do a footnote. Arjun 03:31, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Re:Brahman on Hinduism

What do you mean by column? If you are referring to the quotes, I say we should post a message on the talk page. I think either the quotes have to go, or the paraphrasing of the quotes made above has to go. GizzaChat © 03:30, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes the quotes. Arjun 03:31, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Wow!

Nn...I feel like talking right now, I feel bored :P Hmm... I saw your User:Arjun01/Adminship page, and I saw my name there! Are you really looking at my edits closely? The pressure is on now...:) But really, that's a really cool sub-page ya got there. Oh, and great news! School's been cancelled here today and tomorrow because of cold weather. They told us yesterday. Instead of being here on Wikipedia, I've been sleeping all morning, then coming here at night (most if not all night). Heh heh. Well, about the List of Stratocaster players, I'm afraid I've run out of books to use as references. I'm hitting the 'net, but I can't find anything :( So I've done what I could. Hope it's okay! Now I'm starting to add cites to the Holocaust article. I checked out a big, 600 page book on the Holocaust. Whew. Not the best pictures to put up for FPC. Eww. Well, I guess that's that. Oh, and you don't mind me posting such large messages like this do you? I can't help talking with a great friend, :) Cheers! (It's rubbed off on me...) --Tohru Honda13TalkSign here 03:44, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Hmm...feel free to contact me whenever you want :). That is why I am here, oh and yeah the Strat list is fine, your work is GREAT It would not be near as good without you =). Oh an yeah, you are on the list, and I am Checking it twice. You do have a potential to become an admin, and that is why I am watching you like a hawk (maybe not like that...) and will nominate you once I feel you are ready. Congrats on no school! Cheers! Good luck on your next project! Arjun 03:57, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Hey Arjun, do you look at the number of Wikipedia talks a user has? I don't have many. Guess I'll have to work on that... and like a hawk? Under Pressure now... ding ding ding ding ding ding ding! Have you heard that song from Queen? Hee hee...well, Cheers! --Tohru Honda13TalkSign here 04:34, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
:) Lol, don't feel pressured at all. We have all the time in the world to groom you in to a strong admin candidate. I recomend commenting when you can to various places, such as WP:RFA. And from there just find other places worth commenting. As some (including) myself want to see candidates with at least fifty. I work best when under pressure honestly :). Yeah weird...I know. Probably since I am used to it from day to day life. Arjun 04:39, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Wow...you just said the exact same thing my daddy told me. "You kick more ass when you work under pressure." Well, something like you said. :) Deja vu... --Tohru Honda13TalkSign here 04:46, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
I agree :). Goodnight. Arjun 04:53, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Gizza's username

Thank you so much for your compliment! But no isn't a reference to the Gita :) Da is just the way Indians say "the". Gizza is one of the 300 nicknames I have, had or will get in my current life. It is based on my real name, Girik. There are variations like Gizzo, Giz and some people add titles to like Sir Gizzo or Lord Gizmo!

My real name Girik is a variant of Giri which means mountain. Adding the k makes it a name of Shivji. Girik is a fairly rare name even in India. Giri and Girish (comes from Giri + Ish[vara]) are by far more well known names. The closest title of Krishna with my name is "Giridhar" (lifter of mountain). In one story, Krishna lifts a mountain (I don't actually remember the story!). It is interesting that Krishna is called that because I think the story of Hanuman lifting the mountain to find the medicine which will cure Lakshman is more famous. One of my favourite bhajans has the word Giridhar in its name (again I don't remember properly!). Om Girikāya namaḥ lol. GizzaChat © 04:20, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Today has been a more much more pleasant day on Wikipedia. I've decided to cut off complete contact with trolls and stop getting involved in controversial articles. I am on a semi-Wikibreak for the next nine months and in that time and I will only improve article and have the occasional laugh. I have 4FAs / 1 FLs / 1 FPs in my sight at the moment. GizzaChat © 04:33, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Much of the article is actually a translation from the Italian Wikipedia. It is an FA on Italian Wiki and Lacatosias gratefully translated the article. I translated one of the sections -Iconography (I don't study Italian anymore). I agree with you, it is one the better Hinduism articles on Wikipedia. How did you find out? Did you check the history?GizzaChat © 04:46, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

My fellow hindu

That's an amazing story!...it proves once again that Hinduism is truly universal and not confined to a certain people or geographical location. God truly transcends organized religion, race divisions, lanquage, labels, etc.,etc....I'm also amazed at the contributions that you've made to the Hinduism Project, your improvements to the Hinduism Portal page were well over due. That page is extremely important as it's the first impression many people will have about Hinduism. With your leadership on that effort you have effected the views of thousands apon thousands of people reqarding Hinduism. And also while I'm throwing around compliments...:)let me add that the accomplishments you've made in music according to your user page, proves also that you are truly gifted by God my friend. (did you see the Barnstar I left a few days ago on your awards page?)( I know now I should have placed it in the talk page, I'm NEW!) LeMaster 14:11, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Re. AIV?

Hey Arjun. Yes, you may remove vandal reports where you notice that they've not been warned properly and/or are not active for some time. In fact, your help is appreciated. Backlogs there are often full of bad reports. :-) I've seen other non-admin users doing it. Regards,--Húsönd 03:55, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Why, that's much to be praised! :-) --Húsönd 04:29, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Re:You are back

Sorry for the unscheduled wikibreak. I was wondering, when I came back, if anyone noticed. Yes, you have told me about your name change, but that's okay. What's going on for you? --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 20:23, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

And I've responded. Thanks Arjun. --Tohru Honda13TalkSign here 04:13, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

I'll respond to your email in the morning tomorrow. And thanks for praising me on adoption. I really enjoy helping them out. For some reason, I love being busy on Wikipedia, but I absolutely loathe being busy on real life. It's bad for me, really. Hmm.. I should start my homework...nahh, I'll start tomorrow. :) No, just kidding.Ha... Once my adoptees graduate, I'll adopt more. Thanks agan Arjun. --Tohru Honda13TalkSign here 04:28, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject India Newsletter: Volume II, Issue 1 - January 2007

Project News
  • Project tagging:After a brief edit war over the addition of {{WP India}} to ancient archaeological sites now located in Pakistan, a "pre" parameter was introduced to remove the ROI flag from the template for pre-1947 articles, following discussion. After another large discussion on ANI alleging that the automated tagging by Ganeshbot and LostBot was "nationalistic", Ganeshbot was briefly blocked. Currently, the bots are again in action.
  • Swastika on Hinduism templates:Recently, an extremely large and at times emotional debate broke out regarding the use of the swastika on Hinduism templates, given its association with Nazism. As a result, {{Hindu Links}} now contains an educational message about the use of the swastika, as discussion on a more permanent resolution continues.
