April 2024[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Remsense. I noticed that you recently removed content from Feudalism without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Remsense 02:33, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

hello, I did not remove anything. I added citations! Thanks Alwaysaspiring30 (talk) 02:38, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I was confused, because you replaced a formatted citation with a bare URL, which are strongly discouraged on Wikipedia for a few reasons you could read about here. sorry for any confusion, and thanks for your contributions! Remsense 02:41, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
hi Remsense, that's okay. Sorry, I did remove a citation that went to a webpage link about the Roman Empire. I added tthe webpage link to the word "Roman Empire" so the citation of Paul Fouracre's original thought could be properly cited and not confused by the citation to the Roman Empire. If that isn't more confusing but thanks for checking! Alwaysaspiring30 (talk) 02:46, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, I've taken out most of your contribution for now—I think a lot of it is worthwhile, but it's misplaced and written in an essayists' rather than an encyclopedic tone. Broadly, it was much more about historiography than providing an introduction to the history itself. Please let me know if you have more questions or disagree. Remsense 02:52, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, That may be your interpretation but that is something I think would be more suited for the Talk page. Or better yet, you should research Charles Martel's role in the development of feudalism & then add to the paragraph.. or divide it up if you believe it is too long. Thanks for helping to collaborate! Alwaysaspiring30 (talk) 03:00, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not about the importance of the content—I think Martel is very important—the point is you're writing about historiography, not the history itself. Remsense 03:03, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will not be replying to this page anymore as now we have two conversations and that is too much for me. But, as there is no written history precisely explaining how the concept of feudalism come to be, the historiography is quite important. thanks. Edit warring warning[edit]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Feudalism shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Thank you TheGreatestLuvofAll, I am new to this and believe I have made the appropriate changes. Is there a way you could help me to verify this? Or if I haven't, a way you could help me understand how to do so? Thank you! Alwaysaspiring30 (talk) 16:09, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Alwaysaspiring30, generally we can't use copyrighted work on Wikipedia, we can only use maps if they have been released under a free media license (e.g. Creative Commons) or put into the public domain. As it stands, this is copyright violation (which is no crime in my eyes, to be clear, but it doesn't work here) Remsense 16:19, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Lucky for us, there's a lot of quality (or at least interesting) free maps on our sister site Wikimedia Commons, is anything present at commons:Category:Maps of the Frankish territory looking suitable to you? Remsense 16:23, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Remsense, thank you for the link to additional images on Wikimedia Commons! I added a new image and hopefully this solves that. thanks again Alwaysaspiring30 (talk) 22:07, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you think it was released under a free license, see Wikipedia:File copyright tags/Free licenses or if you think it is unfree, consider using {{non-free fair use}} for licensing, and add a rationale. TheGreatestLuvofAll (talk) 12:14, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
