The Hawks Basketball Club is an accredited University of New South WalesBasketball sporting association under the auspices of the UNSW Sports and Recreation Council. The club was formed in 1986 and has competed competitively within the Basketball ACT Belconnen League every year since. The Hawks Basketball Club caters for both male and female players of all skill sets. In the 2009 winter season the club entered 9 male teams in B grade through F grade and 2 female teams in the A and B grade competitions.
The Hawks Basketball Club is administered by the HBC committee and is responsible to the University of New South Wales Sports and Recreation council. The senior committee consists of the following positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Equipment Manager. The junior committee consists of: Administration Coordinator, Entertainment, Events, Fundraising, Merchandise and Public Relations.
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award is awarded annually at the end of each season to the player voted on by their teams to be the MVP. The club's MVP is awarded to the Mens 1sts and Womens 1sts MVPs respectively.
