The given definition of Zanea or Zanya currently posted, despite its pompous and credible wording, is quite ignorant, obviously not created by a person with whatsoever knowledge of Jewish history, who does not know that this is a IVRIT (Hebrew) word/name. It is amazing how quickly Wikipedia has accepted the view that the Zaneas are no more that just Gipsies, Romas etc., which is how Romanians also view those Jews who were unable to leave Romania. Being obviously poor, these Jews were kept by the Romanians for cheap labor, and not sold to Israel for 50 dollars.

Incidentally, there are many Zanea in what is now the Ukraine, also in France, Swizerland, Italy, who differ that there is a subspecies of Jewish Gipsies out there, as Jews marry Jews, as Gipsies marry gipsies. All these are highly educated, charitable, religious Jews, for generations.

It would be refreshing to see Wikipedia adopt a less insulting approach when selecting the version of definitions to post. I belive I speak for all the Zanea/Zanya/Zania's out there when I say you should be ashamed of your selves for being so symplistic. My information is verifiable, whereas, if you ask for verification form the president of Iran, just like to Romanians, he will tell you there was no holocaust, there are no Zanea Jews in Romania or anywhere else. You are as wrong as they are in choosing their biased and limited so called verification.
