The "Circumstances" section[edit]

I think that the "Circumstances" section needs to be rearranged, as the reasons for Marian's death are not really known. Maybe a section for "Hypotheses" should be created instead. Kenshin (talk) 12:30, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There are facts that are surely known about the circumstances (people involved etc.), maybe the relation of these to the case is questionable. However, it should be clear from the text whether a statement is supported by evidences, rumors or it is simply a hypothesis. Anyway, even hypotheses should be sourced. Timur lenk (talk) 19:41, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Only the people involved are known for sure, and that changes nothing of what I've said. Kenshin (talk) 09:12, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Given that no-one has been convicted yet, this article cannot state who carried out the murder. This would be illegal in the UK at least. A lot of speculation needs to be removed from this article to bring it up to standard. Parslad (talk) 09:19, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just a few technical points, even supposing you were an authority on UK law and we could use your opinion on what's legal and illegal in the UK as a source or a basis for our actions my understanding is that UK law does not apply in the US since at least 1776. It would be pretty bad if we had to consider the laws of 200 countries just because someone might read the article in country X. So the basic question is what does UK law have to do with anything absolutely anything in the case of this article? Hobartimus (talk) 12:05, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Erm, the point I was trying to make, was that this article states who committed the crime, when there has been no trial, let alone a conviction! Parslad (talk) 17:01, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Parslad, I agree that the article needs some rewriting. Unfortunately I'm short on time, but its on my mind. Kenshin (talk) 10:13, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Merger with Marian Cozma[edit]

I propose that this article is merged with Marian Cozma. The crime detailed here is notable only for the indentity of the victim, and therefore would be more appropriately dealt with on that page. There is already information in Marian Cozma, leading to a lot of duplication. This article also contains a lot of speculation and extraneous detail. Parslad (talk) 18:46, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was just split a few days ago I have no opinion on which would be better. If you look at the history of the Cozma article you will find the original version before the split [1]. Hobartimus (talk) 18:59, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The crime attracted huge attention from the public and the media both in Hungary and Romania. One reason was the victim (but two other sportsmen were also injured seriously), second the cruelty of the crime and third the social and political debate it caused (or enhanced). I support extending the article rather than merging. Timur lenk (talk) 16:39, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Aftermath[edit]

In the "Aftermath" section, the data in the closing sentence should be updated: by now, the trial against the suspects is under process, and "Attacks against Romani people in Hungary have been recorded after the incident[25], however, there is no evidence of racist motive in either case." should be revised, as the racist motives are proven.
