The aforementioned article is about the sinking of the Toya Maru, which happened during this typhoon. I propose that the boat accident article get merged with this typhoon article. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:35, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose: while it's not an unreasonable proposal, my feeling is that an event leading to the loss of 1,159 lives is independently notable; the references and aftermath section also support this. Klbrain (talk) 23:58, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The boat accident article was SPLIT from the boat article on 5 July 2021 by an editor who was globally-locked 19 days later, and MERGED back into the boat article on 1 October 2022, effectively reverting that ill-advised bold split of an article which is less than 8,000 bytes long. Sure, mention and link to the boat article from the Tōya Maru Typhoon article, but if the boat is independently notable it should not be merged into the typhoon article. I'm removing the old, stale merge proposal template, with no prejudice towards anyone making a fresh proposal. – wbm1058 (talk) 18:49, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
