Creation of article[edit]

The initial WP content of this article is from the article of the same title, written entirely by myself (up to this point in time) and originally posted on Citizendium. The empty outline headers and some of the other headers (the "Prometheus" ones) are perhaps unencyclopedic. I am aware of this but am not too concerned about it so much as I am concerned about completing the actual content of the article.

Thanks for your contributions. This is a great article, but there were some problems with the headings I could not let stand, even for a day. The "Prometheus" references were entirely out of place and unexplained, and many of the headings included unnecessary word-dressing. I have rephrased these headings. Some of them appeared not to have been intended to receive any content, but only to mark events ("The inquisitor is summoned"); if these need to be reintroduced that should not be a problem when the content arrives. The thirteenth through fifteenth sessions obviously will need to be filled in at some point so I have left those. —ptk✰fgs 00:48, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Verdict overturned[edit]

Just as the trial was politically motivated, the "overturning" of the verdict was political - in fact more so. The overturning of the trial decision cannot therefore be said to be "thereby completely exonerating her". Even in modern courts a successful appeal merely means that a conviction was unsound, not that the person is innocent (or otherwise exonerated)101.98.175.68 (talk) 09:14, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with this point. For example, though the trial was nullified, the status of Joan's voices was not clarified in the retrial. It wasn't until her beatification that the church decided that her voices were part of her divine mission. I'm going to change this. Removed a Lot of Uncited or Incorrectly Cited Quotations (and other odds and ends)[edit]

I removed a lot of English-language quotes that had citations from Latin or French-language sources, as well as other quotes from an English source that didn't align. Most of the material came directly from another work associated with a decades-old sock puppet issue, which particularly focuses advancing a particular view of why Joan wore men's clothes.
