Why do some Cavitenos spell Trece Martires with a Z (i.e, Trece Martirez City?)[edit]

What confuses me even more is you'll see that even in some road signs in Cavite, even making it to some publications with that spelling both in government and media communications. I just think its a shame when you can't even spell your own city right. or maybe whoever founded it meant to call it Trece Martinez? (you know like the number 13 and lastname Martinez like on a basketball jersey)? Im just puzzled.

That is definitely wrong since the city's official seal clearly states "Lunsod ng Trece Martires." It is a planned community that was established on 24 May 1954 under Republic Act. 981 to be Cavite's new capital. It is named "City of Trece Martires" in honour of the Thirteen Martyrs of Cavite. The proper rendition of "martires" in Spanish is "mártires" (with an "s"), meaning martyrs. —hueman1 (talk • contributions) 15:11, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
