Status problem[edit]

Thanks for catching that; it's fixed now. In the future, if you want to know to use templates, look up how the template used is constructed. Here, you'd want to inspect Template:Infobox Skyscraper, and you see there's a slot for "status", which I guess defaults to "proposed".--Loodog (talk) 22:58, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rename page to 100 Light St[edit]

Good morning all,

To those concerned, Transamerica has vacated their space within the tower, and the naming rights and sign have been removed. The property owners and management have temporarily re-branded the tower as its address, 100 Light St, until a naming rights tenant can be found. 50.222.185.65 (talk) 13:56, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Transamerica Tower - Exterior[edit]

I was part of the general contractor's staff during construction in 1972-73. The most interesting feature of the project, to me, was its exterior sheathing. The material is pink granite that was mined from a quarry in Spain. The individual pieces were shipped to northern Italy where the panels were attached to precast concrete supports. The finished panels were then shipped to Baltimore and "hung" onto the building. At one point a panel came loose from the concrete and dropped several floors to the ground. The Italian subcontractor was required to inspect every other panel on the building or awaiting to be hung. I don't recall any other problems with the bulding's "skin."

As a sidenote, the pink granite was from the same quarry that provided the stone material for President Kennedy's tomb in Arlington National Cemetery. 2601:2C1:8D00:D530:51B8:70BD:25E3:C80D (talk) 16:06, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
