South African Overseas Expeditionary ForceMilitary history of South Africa during World War I – renaming the article would allow for wider discussion and expansion of the subject learning. Instead of being limited to the South African Overseas Expeditionary Force only, a renaming to the more broad 'military history of...' would allow expansion into homefront aspects, as well as airforce and naval contributions during the First World War. Renaming would also allow for much greater simplicity and uniformity for search engine results. Other 'dominion/commonwealth' pages for this time period follow the same title structure - e.g 'Military History of Australia during World War I' or 'Military History of Canada during World War I'. For World War Two the same pattern is followed - e.g '...during World War II'. South Africa itself has this World War II page following this structure. The 'South African Overseas Expeditionary Force' page is the only one that does not conform to this pattern and should be changed to match its sister World War II article, and other Commonwealth articles. .sprika. Why not just create a History of South Africa during World War I if that is what you want? I do not think there should be any 'home front' stuff at a 'military history'-titled article. Srnec (talk) 02:34, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Srnec: If you have information for a Military history of South Africa during World War I, then write it. If there is significant overlap, a merge might be appropriate, but as it stands, the scope of the current article (IMO) is fine as it is. Xyl 54 (talk) 08:47, 17 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of this discussion was to split. lovkal (talk) 13:34, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is more substantial information about this unit in the Military history during WW1 article that could be merged here. It would get the readable prose size of the WW1 article down to a more suitable level and this article would be expanded. lovkal (talk) 16:09, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
