Notability[edit]

In reply to the review (24 May 2023), I suggest the the scholar does meet the notability criteria for the following reasons, in the cumulative way:

-Marom has had "had a substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity," e.g., through managing the Arabic FB educational web-page "Baladi, Ta'rikh wa-Turath," in his area of expertise, which has a wide (66,000+ following) and an active audience (250,000+ views and engagements per month).

- Marom has been awarded honors and prizes of notable academic societies, of notable foundations and trusts on the national level - e.g., Israel (Geographic association and MEISAI).

- Marom's setisfies the "frequently quoted in conventional media as an academic expert in a particular area" criterion. He has been covered extensively, in respectable, independent and recognized Arabic and Hebrew, in non-trivial way, as verified and demonstrated through independent sources in the reference section. These mentions, especially in the Al-Quds al-Arabi, are beyond "small number of quotations, especially in local news media."

I would like to invite comments and discussion for these insights, if anybody has a different conclusion. רמרום (talk) 03:51, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Onel5969, I will appreciate your opinion and insights!
Many thanks for your thoughtful consideration רמרום (talk) 03:55, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate your perspective above, however, imho, those do not equate to notability by WP standards. None of the awards is particularly noteworthy, none of his positions satisfy NPROF, and he has a very low h-Index of 3. As I always do in a conversation about academics, I'll invite David Eppstein for their opinion.Onel5969 TT me 09:02, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Onel5969,
Please have a look at the academic's updated page.
I have searched the web and found significant (dozens) number of references to his work. I've reformulated the page to reflect this. I think that the significant coverage in independent, reliable, secondary sources satisfy the issue of notability (''Wikipedia are required to be notable; that is significant, interesting, or unusual enough to be worthy of notice, as evidenced by being the subject of significant coverage in independent, reliable, secondary sources.''). Wikipedia doesn't demand the coverage to be in English, and h-index is not recognized as a measure of academic notability. What do you think?
Also, do you have any suggestion on style and content to add/remove, to implement while working on other academics?
Cheers, רמרום (talk) 14:43, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
