Parliamentarian claim[edit]

The claim that Sofiyeva was a member of the Constituent Assembly elected in 1919 seems to be a misunderstanding or misreading of the sources as the references do not say this – this one confirms she was elected to a local council and that five women were elected to the parliament the following year. This is a detailed academic paper (starting on p227) on the local elections and confirm she was elected as a councillor (perhaps the misunderstanding is because local councillors were referred to as "deputies", a term which is usually reserved for MPs).

The five were Elisabeth Nakashidze-Bolkvadze, Minadora Orjonikidze, Kristine Sharashidze, Anna Sologhashvili and Eleonora Ter-Parsegova-Makhviladze, as confirmed by several sources[1][2][3]

The Georgian article infobox states she was a member of the Tblisi District Eroba (a Georgian local government unit). Cheers, Number 57 20:59, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
