Message for anonymous IPs and others who insert defamatory text[edit]

A number of different anonymous IP addresses, and one or two registered editors, have repeatedly been inserting a paragraph depicting this person negatively, and alleging that the removal of the paragraph is due to censorship. Because so many different IPs make this single edit and then never return, there is not much point in posting this to their talk page, so I'll attempt to communicate here instead.

Wikipedia is not censored, and negative content about people can be included as long as Wikipedia policies are followed. The reason why the text is removed is because it breaks the policy about biographies about living people. Please read this policy.

The source in the section of text, "interview with VOA - Voice of America - on Jul 21st 08" is not sufficient as a reference. What was actually said in the interview? Who was being interviewed, and by whom? You also must refrain from adding defamatory content such as referring to people or their activities as "frauds". If there are verifiable sources that the person has defrauded other people, add the information and the sources using neutral phrasing. If you refrain from adding defamatory content, and if you provide verifiable sources, your edits will not be reverted. You should never add personal commentary about an article in the article itself. If you want to discuss other people's edits of a particular article, please do so here, on the article's talk page, and remember to always be civil. Please read the policies linked in this section.

Finally, the threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. --Bonadea (talk) 08:40, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

about Iranian Islamic Lobby and Omid Memarian[edit]

There is no doubt that the writer of this page is himself (Omid Memarian) and he tries to introduce himself as a very active and important journalist. Nowadays, this is obvious for everyone who studies Iranian affairs that he is a part of Iranian Islamic Lobby in US which strongly try the several different ways to protect Iranian dictator government from any (political or military) treatment by UN or US politicians.
Our current politician world seems very complicated with many faces and it is very difficult to recognize the bad and good. however, sometimes we are highly influenced by our feeling forgetting the pure fact. I wonder how Wikipedia gave a big opportunity to someone who is trying to target Iranian hopeless people with his invisible bullet. Omid Memarian who is a member of your organisation, is the man that with theatrical action inside Iran could come over the seas under the name of a Iranian regime opposition and in fact a mercenary from Iranian Islamic regime to be an active part of regime's lobby in west. Their aim is prevent the UN countries to be agreed for changing Iranian regime as same way as Iraq. You can add the other name to this list as Akbar Ganji and AmirAhmadi and etc.
Omid Memarian has a very long interview with VOA (voice of America / Persian) on Jul 21st 2008 and he accused US government to support the terrorism groups against Iran. Also he talked about his commitment to stop western countries putting pressure on Iranian regime!
(Please refer to the mentioned interview).
This is the third generation (I can say) spy from Iranian regime. first was who tried to make 1979 revolution, second was who killed many Iranian enlightened in Europe such as Shapour Bakhtiar, Dr. Mohammad Sadegh (Saeid) Sharafkandi,Fattah Abdali , Homayoun Ardalan, Mohammad Nouri Dehkordi, Abdolrahman Ghassemlou and etc. (Ref: http://english.iranianlobby.com)
The third wave’s mission to calm down the world until the Iranian regime reach the nuclear bomb. Therefore we should add this paragraph to the article to make it a little more fair and close to the truth: In 2008 it is appeared that majority of his activities in Iran has been fraud to find a chance for immigrating to USA and working as an active part of Iranian Islamic regime lobby in US as he accused American government to support the terrorism groups against Iran. (ref. interview with VOA - Voice of America - on Jul 21st 08). His group constantly, are trying to delete all critiques against them on the internet such as this page; but the truth can not be deleted by eraser.
Surely he and his group immediately try to delete this page but I hope the Wiki group prevent them this time. Thanks for Reading this page I hope it could enlightened some dark corner of truth.

Because the Wikipedia software does not recognise line breaks, I have inserted line breaks in the above paragraph (where the author had made them) to make it more readable. --Bonadea (talk) 09:19, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for starting a discussion here. If you read the section above yours, and read the information that is linked there, you'll understand why the text you propose is unacceptable in a Wikipedia article; the reason the article is now protected is that that exact paragraph of text was inserted over and over, despite attempts to make the people who inserted it understand why it was not acceptable. The current article may or may not have been started by the subject himself, but it has certainly been edited by a number of different people, and currently all the information has verifiable, third-party sources. (I have been accused of being the subject, so just for the record: I have no affiliation with him, in fact I had not heard his name before noticing the vandalism to this article a few months ago.) If you could provide verifiable sources and a neutrally worded section on the issue, a "criticism" section would definitely not be out of place. But it cannot be the paragraph you propose. I have tried to find sources that claim an Iranian regime connection, but have failed abysmally. I do find several columns by the writer where he urges dialogue rather than attack, such as [1], and he has certainly criticised the Bush regime for instance in [2], but that doesn't imply that he is "working as an active part of Iranian Islamic regime lobby in US". Because the VoA interview doesn't appear to be available, it's difficult to know just what he said there. --Bonadea (talk) 09:19, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
