Terminology[edit]

There already seems to be some confusion between oil-burning steam locomotives and diesel locomotives and the terminology used in this article does not help. I don't like the heading "Locomotives powered by oil burner engines" because it is the boiler, not the engine, which is oil fired. Biscuittin (talk) 19:36, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed the headings to make them less confusing. Biscuittin (talk) 19:46, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

North American Locos[edit]

To keep engine list at reasonable size, given that this is a generic page covering all oil burning steam engines, North American Railway locomotives should only be listed if:

1- They were oil burners during their time in revenue service. Heritage rail is dealt with separately in the article (and I would argue that it probably deserves its own article)

2 - Locomotive has its own linkable article to demonstrate WP:N
