It's the name that the article started as and matched that sources that I used when I expanded it. Looking at changes with time, the North Island Fault System was used in research papers more than twice as often as the North Island Shear Belt in the last 13 years, so that option (NISB) is becoming less used. North Island Dextral Fault Belt was used slightly more often than the NIFS over that same period, but they are running neck and neck over the last three years, so no reason to change I reckon.
