Sons of liberty[edit]

The following is sourced only to the Sons of Liberty website, which is WP:SPS. I am moving it here until it can be reliably sourced. Sons of Liberty International, a non-profit military contractor, trained, advised and supplied the NPU from December 2014 to May 2015.[1]

Numbers[edit]

The following was in the infobox, and I am not sure that the sourcing really supports the content, since the sources don't name the "Nineveh Plain Protection Units" as any kind of formal entity.

numbers =570 active,[1] 5,500 enlisted[2]

Sourcing problems[edit]

A lot of info has been added to this article using what looks like the group's twitter. Per WP:SELFSOURCE, such sources are acceptable for describing the subject itself or actions thereof, provided that "The article is not based primarily on such sources.". Before the version I instated, most of the sources were primary ones, i.e the group's twitter account, or peripherally related ones like "catholicherald.co.uk" or "ankawa.com". These should ideally all be replaced with independent, third-party sources. As for youtube videos, those are not reliable sources because their authenticity often cannot be verified, they may not show what they claim, etc. Eik Corell (talk) 16:02, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Barcyy (talk) 00:00, 5 February 2017 (UTC) I don't understand how ankawa.com is not a reliable source when the information from the article is a direct interview with Yacoob G Yaqo. That's a fallacious argument. I agree with youtube videos but twitter pages are also official sources of information. Especially when I linked it to the press release from their official twitter.[reply]

I agree with removing youtube references, however, I will revert the second section on "Harassment by Kurdish Asayis".

Oddly some of the sources don't tally up with the sentences they are attached to. Number 11 (France 24 report), used as a citation for "peshmerga and NPU" retaking Bartella mentioned neither having taken part (the town is beyond the areas the peshmerga went to). ISOF took Bartella and on the 23rd of Oct 2017 (the date of the source) some Christians and priests were able to return to the town, but the NPU did not take part and are missing from any good sources on the liberation of Bartella. The NPU have also been inserted into the wiki page for Bartella - again citing sources that do not mention them. Just something to be aware of. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.176.55.118 (talk) 09:42, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of sourced content re Iraqi army[edit]

User:Barcyy please explain why you are removing sourced content. Please keep in mind that content is based on sources, policies, and guidelines. Jytdog (talk) 13:56, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

User: Jytdog where in the sources does it say that it is "Iraqi Army"? In all links I only see NPU alongside coalition airstrikes. Barcyy (talk)

I put quotes in the relevant sources for pete's sake. Please actually read what is there. Jytdog (talk) 05:11, 14 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
