Nationality[edit]

I removed WikiProject African diaspora, as I saw no relevance. I also changed her nationality to "British" dropping the "Barbados" as I saw no sources saying she had dual nationality. I think in the context of her mostly being notable for her nationality being questioned, I think grate care is needed before stating that she is any nationality other than British; reliable sources are needed. Of course, if any of this is in error, other views are welcomed. CT55555(talk) 14:29, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

She dresses in African garb and has been interviewed https://futurehackney.com/ngozi where she speaks of her deep connection to her African heritage. This issue of nationality/race/garb is related to the alleged incident at the palace which is apparently why this page was created. Honore1 (talk) 21:56, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's a fair point about the links above. Do you think we should add the WikiProject African diaspora back in? CT55555(talk) 19:26, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No it shouldn't be added back in. She is not of African descent.Glaaaastonbury88 (talk) 08:51, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
She's not of African descent? Clearly she is. 75.119.244.176 (talk) 17:07, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Can you say how the article is relevant to the wikiproject? Is the scope of the project every biographical article of every person with Caribbean parents? That seems massively wide in scope. CT55555(talk) 18:00, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request for input[edit]

There is a minor content dispute over at Sistah Space and input to help us reach consensus is encouraged. See:

Birthplace[edit]

the article seems to be deliberately avoiding the issue of birthplace. Surely whether she was born in Africa, the Caribbean, or elsewhere is of relevance considering the other issues covered in this article. 2023/01/30 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.227.236.129 (talk) 21:19, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'll happily add that to the article if you present a reliable source that says where she was born. I've searched and could not find a suitable source. I don't think anyone is "deliberately avoiding" anything. CT55555(talk) 01:46, 30 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Her birth (as Marlene P Headley) was registered in Willesden in the March quarter of 1961. This can be easily confirmed on FreeBMD, as can her marriage to Paul Fulani in Brent in 1990. When interviewed by Hackney Museum, she explicitly said she was born in Harlesden. Nick Cooper (talk) 18:06, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
