Untitled[edit]

I feel like this page should be kept because it could help educate people on the importance of accepting Cherokee basketry as an art instead of a craft. And my intentions, are to hopefully inspire other young Cherokees to take an interest in this art, because it is endangered.

If you can find a source for his notability, AKA what makes him stand out above any other Cherokee basket weaver, this article will be kept. Until then, the article will probably be deleted. SuperDT 05:48, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He did write a forward for a book called "Weaving the Double Lidded Cherokee Basket" By Charlotte Coats.

Yes, his name is mentioned at http://www.cherokeeheritage.org toward the bottom of the page for an award he won earlier this month. And also, here is the link to an article he wrote for the Renewing Traditions Newsletter

It's an honorable mention, but for the time being, it's a source nonetheless. I'll put it into the article. If you have anymore sources that tell of his notability, please don't be afraid to make a references section, and put your sources there.

Great! 2nd place! Now we're getting somewhere ;) Now we've somewhat established notability, so I'll go ahead and withdraw my ProD. But as I've said before, the more sources, the better, so get as many sources as you can. Did you all know that he also is a founding member of the Cherokee Basketweavers Association, and has been responsible for teaching several young Cherokee kids in his community basketry as well. He is really remarkable, even if he isn't very well documented.

I think this article should be REMOVED. While there is no doubt that he is a very good basket weaver, I do not feel like he has done enough to be considered "natable."
