category[edit]

I removed Category:Turkish War of Independence. Since that category was very crowded, we created some sub-categories. For this battle, Category:Battles of the Franco-Turkish War is suitable. Thank you. Takabeg (talk) 11:07, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

44 men[edit]

The source listed clearly says 44 men conducted the ambush. If anyone has sources to the contrary please feel free to divulge if not please do not edit the article on your own volition. 92.238.86.162 (talk) 21:55, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If so why don't you cite it ? Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 07:48, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The source used seems very biased in favour of Turkey Uk5056547 (talk) 08:44, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The source is the official battle report of Commender to President Atatürk. The number is correct. Hsynylmztr (talk) 13:01, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

44 Turkish soldiers[edit]

Hsynylmztr, could you please provide the citation of the book according to which the French were defeated by and surrendered to 44 Turkish soldiers? Because when I search in the book, the only mention of 44 Turkish soldiers is "Mesnil'in bu kaçışını yalnız Gülek birliğinden 44 kişilik bir müfreze Fransızları takibe koyulmuş ve Tekir'de küçük bir çarpışma yapmıştı" : "Only a 44-member detachment from Gülek's unit followed the French and had a small battle in Tekir". I guess that you can provide three or four pages with all the context so that we can see the truth? — Preceding unsigned comment added by LaHire07 (talkcontribs) 16:29, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

LaHire07, On the 81st page of the book 'Türk-Fransız mücadelesi: Orta Toros geçitleri, 1915-1921', you can find the details of this battle alongside the quote of "Birinci Dünya Savaşı'nda Verdün'de Almanlara karşı zaferler kazanan Fransız tabur komutanı Mesnil haksız işgal ettiği bu topraklarda 44 köylü karşısında teslim olurken, eşsiz Türk kahramanlığına boyun eğmiş, talihsiz bir adam olarak ağlamıştır.", with translation to English, "Mesnil, the commander of the French battalion, who won the victory against the Germans in Verdun in the First World War, surrendered to 44 villagers in these lands that he unjustly occupied, submitted to the unique Turkish heroism, and cried as an unfortunate man.". I'm glad to see you learned Turkish and found this rare book just to check my edit. And one more thing, the quote I mentioned is on the same page as the one you shared, so if you actually read the book how come you didn't see the part I wrote? Or did you? Here is the truth. Hsynylmztr (talk) 12:38, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hsynylmztr Thanks a lot. Considering the tone of this "academic" source, we can now definitely consider the number of "44 villagers" to come from the mind of an absolutely biased Turk... LaHire07 (talk) 19:21, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

LaHire07, The source used by the author is the official battle report the commander sent to President Atatürk right after the fight. The numbers are directly from the battle report. The tone author used while talking about the event doesn't change the validity of numbers, which is what are we discussing here. You would know this if you actually read the book which became clear that you do not have any clue about. The way you talk is disturbingly racist, 'mind of a biased Turk' gave you sources with numbers but you keep denying it and don't bother to apologize after I provided the quote and proved you didn't read the book. At least keep your pride and close the discussion here. Don't be such a biased French. I do not blame you, I understand it's hard to swallow. Hsynylmztr (talk) 21:38, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hsynylmztr You're just continuing to prove me right without even realizing it.LaHire07 (talk) 13:45, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

LaHire07, The figures are from the battle report given by the commander to the Ankara Government. Which part did you not understand? Hsynylmztr (talk) 14:15, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hsynylmztr "The figures are from the battle report given by the commander to the Ankara Government." Thank you.LaHire07 (talk) 14:21, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

LaHire07, Who do you expect to report the battle? Do you think the Commander of the army lied to Atatürk, his own commander and president? Do you think the commander and all eyewitnesses lied in the report they sent to Government in 1920? They probably didn't even guess this report will be read 100 years later. Hsynylmztr (talk) 14:30, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hsynylmztr Yes.LaHire07 (talk) 14:41, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

LaHire07, You are the only liar here. Turkish people kicked your colonial genocidal country out of Anatolia. And your unjust occupation ended. Nothing will change this fact. Hsynylmztr (talk) 15:02, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hsynylmztr You didn't have to say that but thank youLaHire07 (talk) 15:38, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
