North Macedonia?[edit]

If he died in 1943, does he really belong in a North Macedonia category? Does it make sense to call any place he could have lived until that year North Macedonia?John Pack Lambert (talk) 17:46, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The point of that category is to place Strazimiri alongside other Albanians from the present-day territory of N Macedonia. I understand "North Macedonia" sounds anachronistic but the point is to categorize him among Albanian Macedonians. --Local hero talk 19:59, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In this case it is anachronistic. There was no recognized even sub-state of Macedonia he ever lived in. He died before Yugoslavia was sub-divided in that way. He did not in any meaningful way ever live in anything that was called Macedonia, so we should not categorize him in a way that pretends that he did. If he had lived in 1944 or later there might be an argument, but with his death coming before that, I do not think there is any valid argument.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:16, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
