Merger proposal[edit]
There has been no proposal on this talk page to discuss the merging of Abercius of Hieropolis into this article (s. step 1) - anyway, the articles had been tagged ([1], [2]), so I'll leave a comment on this. --Rax (talk) 16:31, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Conclusion: For the merging had been proposed by tagging the articles on 1 August 2015 without leaving a reason on this talk page, and for there has been no discussion on my opposing comment (see above) since 9 September 2015 (while the user proposing the topic had been editing permanently since than), I'll close this matter now and I'll remove the tags from both articles - result: no consensus to merge the pages. Remove the pseudo vita[edit]
This article is about the Inscription. Please remove references to this strange 'life' story. Also, if the inscriptions do not contain the name Abercius, why is it even called this way.
Maybe delete this lemma? Smells like the usual Christian bs, sources from 19th century happily exploited in 2023 etc.

- Large parts of the article are indeed outdated, as they fully rely on the article from 1907. But the significance and overall interpretation of the inscription hasn't changed since then. The life story and the name Abercius are both an integral part of the content of the inscription as passed down in the incomplete stone fragments as well as in the complete quotation in the "Life of Abercius". A short view in any current publication on the topic shows easily that the above demands to delete the article or to remove large parts of the content are absurd and probably the result of an emotional bias.
