Life and career[edit]

The entry about "Guy" Lee's involvement with the Jastreboffs in the matter of naming "misophonia" has been deleted, without discussion, either privately or via this "Talk" page, by an editor who appears to be "stalking" my contributions. The reason given is WP:UNDUE.

I contend that the inclusion of this example of the regard in which Guy Lee was held, to be brought in as an expert in classical language, is entirely in keeping with the other achievements that he is credited with in this Article, and helps readers to appreciate the legacy of this person.

I am, therefore, re-instating the contribution. ChanceryBlack (talk) 11:22, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

But you haven’t really given any reason that this origin story is important as far as this article is concerned. It seems to have just been an isolated bit of correspondence, or maybe a chat over a cup of tea. What resulted from this as far as Lee is concerned? Did it have any impact on his life or career? Did he, for example, subsequently publish anything about references to misophonia in Roman poetry? Brunton (talk) 20:04, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion of this Article[edit]

I have a considerable amount of information about "Guy" Lee, his position and career in the army, his involvement with the intelligence services with respect to "codebreaking" , his marriage to Helen Whitley ( Intelligence Corps WW2) and their immediate family, many being still alive, and active, though possibly not "notable" by Wikipedia standards.

There is also a lot of citable material about Lee being asked to advise in areas of expertise tangential to his main interests and published work. He was indeed something of a polymath and was highly regarded in many academic communities.

I think it would be good to collate some of this , so the more casual enquirer about "Guy Lee" is informed as to the range, depth, and cross synthesis he brought to many areas.

But ... how best to develop this, within the constraints imposed by Wikipedia, and the antagonism towards primary sources of information, which much of this is?

Ideas? ChanceryBlack (talk) 13:03, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What are your sources? Brunton (talk) 13:47, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Army Service Records, General Registrar Office, Bletchley Park memoirs, "The Wire" archive, various academic "newsletters", correspondence collections, the Biographical Records Collection of St. John's College ... to begin with.

ADDING: The golf. Bit of a major omission that!
