Are fireman's poles actually also called "toms"?[edit]

I have evidence that this may be some vandalism from over a decade ago. See this Reddit comment from 11 years ago as of writing:

The user claims his friend jokingly added "tom" (after himself) as an alternative name for a fireman's pole. 11 years later, this is still very much on Wikipedia. I'm new to Wikipedia so I can't figure out how to find the first edit that added "tom", but regardless, what's really important is - does anybody have a reliable source from before this point that confirms fireman's poles are also called toms? It's not even addressed elsewhere in this article but now it even seems to have spread to other websites - it's in a "History of the fireman's pole" article from Fire and Rescue International. I'll remove it from the article eventually if nobody thinks otherwise.
