De Zoeker, Zaandam, Netherlands
De Zoeker ("The Seeker") is a windmill located in the Zaanse Schans, Zaanstad, Netherlands used to extract oil from seeds. Built in 1672, it is the only such mill still in operation, and is one of five remaining oil mills in the area.Photo: Murdockcrc

Please can more information be given - if it is a windmill where does oil come into it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.7.128.189 (talk) 08:24, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What is an oil mill?[edit]

What an oil mill is, isn't clearly explained in the article. Reub2000 (talk) 02:42, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My supposition is that oil mills mill linseed or rapeseed etc to make oil. Linseed is mostly for paint or putty and indeed one of the oil mills is a for paint, but it might mill seed to make oil for food use. It would be useful to know what this particular mill is used for — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.31.202.145 (talk) 08:19, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed with the questioneer. I was confused by the article... doesn't say what "oil mill" is. Considering this is PotD, can someone quickly scrounge up the info? --90.230.64.155 (talk) 08:54, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
