If this person is a legendary person, as explained in the List of High Kings of Ireland, is it correct to include him in the biographical categories? Dybeck 18:39, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Iodhain Morainn[edit]

An anonymous editor added that Crimthann "was the first High King of Tara who to wear the golden collar of judgement in Gaelic called "Iodhain Morain" *(Odinns Legate)" and goes on to say that "Morain is an old Celtic term pertaining to the terminal part of something for example edge of the river, end of the line, tip of the stem, bud of the vine, crown of the scepter. Related to modern French Moraine meaning tumulus left by retreating edge of a glacier."

This collar is a genuine Irish mythological item, but belonged to Morann mac Máin, who lived in the time of Feradach Finnfechtnach, so I've transferred it over there. I've also removed any reference to Odin because it's nonsense. The collar is called iodh Morainn in Keating, which is the early modern Irish development of Old Irish id, a collar or torc, and Morainn is simply the genitive of Morann. --Nicknack009 (talk) 16:05, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
