Drafting[edit]

I simply can't understand "Bishops were in agreement over the articles until the Pope disapproved and then Becket repudiated his arguments." Whose arguments did Becket repudiate, Henry's or the Pope's? And what were the "articles"? Deipnosophista (talk) 20:15, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Constitutions of Clarendon Project[edit]

Revoking of clauses[edit]

Querying this sentence in the the section titled "Effects":

"After this Henry felt compelled to revoke the two controversial clauses, which went against canon law."

What were these two clauses? Presumably this is referencing two clauses from the 16 of the Constitutions, but it's not clear which two from context on the page, nor have I been able to find info elsewhere.
