Title[edit]

Chaitanya Charitamrita or Caitanya Caritamrita? I note that Caitanya's page is spelt Ca, rather than Cha, so for the sake of conformity it would be nice to adjust one or the other. Chopper Dave 23:56, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chopper - You might have to refresh your web browser, as the main Chaitanya Mahaprabhu article and the majority of references to this page already include the 'h'. Do you agree with the h for better pronunciation? Regards, ys, Gouranga(UK) 14:09, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is a well-known Bengali edition of Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita with commentaries by the famous Gaudiya Vaishnava Sri Radha Govinda Nath which would still be the most widely read among the millions of Bengali-speaking Gaudiya Vaishnavas. The merit of Sri Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada's text is that it was the first full english translation and enabled non-Bengalis to read the full text for the first time. But Radha Govinda Nath's is probably the first modern edition, having been produced in the early 20th century, and remains in print and widely read in its Bengali script. Nath's edition already did for modern Bengalis what Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada's did for non-Bengalis. I do not want to detract from the latter's achievements but for the sake of accuracy the description may need to be re-thought. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 59.101.111.229 (talk) 23:12, 8 June 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Thank you for your message - I have made a slight alteration to the article in light of this, and think it would be great to add this detail into the page. Do you know the date it was first published? Regards, Gouranga(UK) 10:17, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
