Absolutely never heard of people other than those of Italian descent being called "carcamanos". Ninguém (talk) 01:37, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Carcamano é uma designação dada em algumas partes do Brasil aos

italianos e seus descendentes. Noutras partes, o termo é usado para denominar outros grupos, como judeus e árabes no Maranhão, no Piauí (nas cidades de Floriano e Teresina) e no Ceará. A origem do termo é duvidosa.

Resume: the article is false; "Carcamano" it´s a South Italian/Sicilian "mafious" and poverty!!!(jews too) and not other groups(slavs and germans *not are Carcamanos in Brazil) - Carcamano is the mediterranean race(south italians and jews)!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.8.174.61 (talk) 08:47, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • In Northeast Brazil Carcamano is the arabs and the jews(semitic people or "turks" - in Brazil semitic people is denominated "turks")!! In Argentina, Carcamano = italians of Genoa and South Italy(Carcamano not is slavs and germans)!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.8.174.61 (talk) 08:52, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Segundo Antenor Nascentes é provável que carcamano derive da palavra castelhana carcamán...All wrong ,this word come from southern italian dialects, still today we use this word .The rigth word is carcamanU(with the final U).After "carcare"( better "carcarI") isn t italian but dialectal.CarcamanU come from CARCARI (with the final I-to press down) C'/CU (whit ) A (the ) MANU (hand). Then these are 4 words and not two as article says.At least here there is no reference to races or countries, this word indicates only rouge traders.--87.19.115.36 (talk) 13:01, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is not a ethnic slur anymore[edit]

Today is a word that ONLY the Italian community and his descendents use to say that someone is "brute", like a small and childish offense that only works between the Italian comunity. But in general, is more like a costume. A lot of another words with Italian origin is used too in the Italian Community.

I don't think that this have the same conception of some words considered Ethnic Slur. Even the question of "Ethnics Slurs" in the Asian community from Brazil is different from the rest of the world. Like the act of push the eyes to look like Japanese, no nipo-brazillian thinks that this is wrong... Only the nipo-americans. This is why some Brazillians get trouble in another nations.

Please, search about that and give preference to Brazillian sources. Only people living here can give a detailed descrption. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.79.86.127 (talk) 03:27, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
