There are probably a lot of other things that can be disambiguated here, judging by the amount of "Byzantine X" topics we have. Maybe it is better like this, rather than a redirect...I don't know. But now that it's not a redirect, there are probably hundreds of things that should go to Byzantine Empire that go here. And it's probably my fault, since I am always too lazy to make a proper link... Adam Bishop 06:38, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Usefulness of "Byzantine" dab page[edit]

I am working on fixing things that are linking to this page. This seems like a useful dab page to me so far. The strange thing is that there is a page titled Byzantine (disambiguation) that redirects to this one. I think it should be the other way around: The info on this page should go on the Byzantine (disambiguation) page, and this page should be a plain redirect until such a time as someone finds a need for an article to develop here that is something more than dab. --Iggle 09:09, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not here[edit]

I think that Byzantine should redirect to Byzantine Empire, with a dab page linked from there. Almost everything I see that links here is in reference to the empire, and articles such as Byzantine architecture, its language and a list of its emperors, are all linked to on the Byzantine empire page anyways. We can still create a dab page for them (and the others at the bottom unrelated to the empire), but it does not seem to be logical for Byzantine to not ~~link~~ redirect to Byzantine Empire. --Gregorof 09:09, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why not... I came across something similar with Boxer. Every single link (about 230) should have been [[Boxing|boxer]]. However, in that case i don't think that it should have been changed. In Byzantine... since it's pretty much inextricably linked, I would marginally agree with you. Agree. The term "Byzantine" inherently refers to the Empire, either literally or figuratively, so Byzantine Empire is clearly the primary topic referred to by Byzantine. This page should redirect to Byzantine Empire with a {{Redirect}} hatnote at the top for "Byzantine". --Russ (talk) 10:55, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
