Encircle doctrine[edit]

It was not a matter of chasing the turkish army. The initial strategim, of enveloping the turkish forces, encircling them and then destroying them, failed. After the turkish army managed to escape the greek trap, there was no real point in chasing them further east, as after all the failure at Sagarios battle proved.--Xristar (talk) 13:04, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, I changed "chase" with "encircle". King Constantine was trained in Prussia, and he was a supporter of the German doctrine of pincher-movement. The whole campaign was a series of repeated failures to envelope the retreating Turks. Deadjune1 (talk) 11:47, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk wasn't the Commander of this army. The Turkish army was directly under the direction of TBMM. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tongaalp (talkcontribs) 20:53, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Troops numbers[edit]

I accept the sources, i just edited the numbers to give a range as different places had different estimates. Just for consistency of the article, nothing major Deadjune1 (talk) 20:15, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
