Merger proposal[edit]

This article should be merged with 2022 Arnold Clark Cup. There's only been one event, so I'm unsure why we need two articles for this tournament.Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 23:03, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I assume it will be in the following years too, as women football continues to grow and gets more tournaments (we've gone from only Algarve & Cyprus Cups to having the SheBelieves Cup as well, and now also Turkey Cup, Pinatar Cup, Tournoi de France, Malta, and also Arnold Clark). This also seems quite clear from the branding and attention to this tournament that it is a multi-year endevour. Even with this in mind, I can support currently redirecting this page Arnold Clark Cup to the inaugural 2022 Arnold Clark Cup until next year's edition is confirmed. --SuperJew (talk) 13:24, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The first source confirms that it is a yearly tournament. I would keep it like it is. Kante4 (talk) 13:26, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Surely that's WP:CRYSTALBALL. How is an article covering the Arnold Clark Cup independently notable over the only instance of the event. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:17, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Merge 2022 Arnold Clark Cup into this article with a redirect to this article. If and when it is played next year, we can split the contents by year. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:41, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree there should be a merge, but think that 2022 Arnold Clark Cup should be merged into Arnold Clark Cup - because if there are future examples, the parent article will probably be merited, and if there are not, then the article on the tournament won't need the year (because there is nothing else to differentiate it from). • Merge 2022 Arnold Clark Cup into Arnold Clark Cup - At the minute there are no other Arnold Clark Cups, so there's no need to add a year to the title. If a 2023 Arnold Clark Cup is played, then we split them out again, but until then, the only article we need is Arnold Clark Cup. – PeeJay 16:42, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
