The translation from Spanish seems to suggest that there was a flight on November 23, 1783 at the royal residence at Escorial, involving de Rozier and the Marquis d'Arlandes. Given that elsewhere, these two are indicated as having participated in the first manned flight two days earlier in Paris, I'm highly skeptical that they hustled themselves and the balloon equipment down to Madrid within 48 hours to reenact the feat. While I have not really studied the history of early balloon flight and don't know if there were any such in Spain prior to the 1784 event mentioned, I'm changing the 1783 reference to talk about the Paris event for now. If there is some other event that these paintings might be depicting, it would be good to have the timeline sorted out more clearly. --Michael Snow (talk) 06:12, 27 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
