Notability notice[edit]

@Domdeparis: As the creator of this article, I argue that the subject definitely does pass the notability criteria. The subject is a well known actor within the Kurdish community who has had numerous sources published about his work, though many more in Turkish and Kurdish than in English. As a presenter of the talent show Kurd Idol alone I would say he passes notability, without even his Best Male Actor award from the Turkish Theatre Critics Association. I worry that too often people put deletion requests or challenge notability on articles which are about non-European people where sources exist in other languages but not so much in English. If someone challenges the notability of an article, they should go to the talk page and say why, rather than just putting a notability template on the page. Hi As a new pages reviewer my job is to look at the new pages identify problems and tag them if necessary. Leaving a message on the talk is not always necessary but seeing as you ask why I tagged it I'm happy to explain. I believe that this person is probably notable but the sources are weak, the NYtimes article doesn't mention him apart from the caption in the photo, Zivmagazin is an WP:INTERVIEW and a puff piece in a blog, schoolvoorjournalistiek is a journalism school web site, the biamag is an WP:INTERVIEW and can be considered as a primary source, IMDB is not a reliable source as it is user-generated coverage and the other was added on after tagging. I can find nothing about the Turkish Theatre Critics Association and it is impossible to judge whether the association and their award are notable or not, especially as I cannot access the source that is blocked by a firewall here. In the biamag article it mentions that he won "Yılın En Başarılı Genç Kuşak Sanatçısı", which if one can believe google means "Most Successful Young Generation Artist of the Year" which is not the same as "Male actor of the year 2016", so all in all there is a good chance that he notable but the article needs more reliable sources. So I hope that answers your concerns and will help you to improve the article. The Kurd Idol claim is not sourced by the way and being co-host (not presenter) of one of the Idol franchised shows is not the same as being one of the judges, you may have noticed that his name only appears in the infobox of this show's page on WP which points towards the fact that this role is not considered as particularly important. There is no problem whatsoever in using non-English language sources by the way --Domdeparis (talk) 11:54, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
