about decline[edit]

@Greenman: this article clearly passes Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Notability, because this player has made many professional appearances, both for clubs in the top division. The appearances can be revied with worldfootball.net. Please let me know what needs to be improved, thanks in advance Matthew is here zero (talk) 20:00, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Matthewishere0: Note that there is no professional appearance criteria. The guideline you point to reads "The player section of this notability guidance has been superseded by WP:Notability (sports)", so basically WP:SPORTCRIT, which in essence is "A person is presumed to be notable if they have been the subject of significant coverage, that is, multiple published non-trivial secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject".Greenman (talk) 21:09, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Greenman: - so does this article pass SPORTCRIT? I assumed it did because it has non trivial souces. The sources are not blogs and are completely reliable. If it doesn't meet the criteria, let me know what I can do. @CodeMars04: what do you think? Matthew is here zero (talk) 16:43, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, it does not in its current form. Of the three sources, one is a routine listing, a second makes only a single passing mention of the subject. In no way does this meet the guideline for "significant coverage, that is, multiple published non-trivial secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject". Greenman (talk) 10:21, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
so what do you recommend that I should do? because the guy was a professional player in a top-flight league, so he is notable ... Matthew is here zero (talk) 07:05, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
