Tough Poets Press is an independent publisher based in Arlington, Massachusetts. The company was founded in 2015 by Rick Schober. The press specializes in new and neglected out-of-print unconventional literary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.

History[edit]

In 2019, the press was profiled in Publishers Weekly in an article titled "The One-Man Press Resuscitating Forgotten Classics."[1] It has been credited with reviving the careers of authors Marvin Cohen[2] and Donald Newlove.[3][4] In 2023, Tough Poets Press published Editor Lynge, the first-ever English translation of Nobel Prize laureate Knut Hamsun's 1893 novel Redaktør Lynge. The translation by publisher Rick Schober was listed as one of the 75 notable translations of 2023 by World Literature Today.[5]
