Karine Patient, better known by his stage name K-Reen, is a French Guianese-born French singer and rapper. She debuted her career in the 1990s and she worked with Princess Erika, MC Solaar, Lokua Kanza, Tonton David and more.
Early life[edit]
Karine Patient was born in French Guiana and she grows up at Créteil in Parisian suburbs with her mom and three brothers and sisters. K-Reen begins her first songs at 13 and leaves the family home at 16.
Career[edit]
In 1992, K-Reen debut her career as a singer and rapper on the French hip hop group Roostneg alongside NOB et Manifeste. In 1994, as a solo singer, she recorded "J'en ai marre" and "Les mots d'amour" on the compilation Sensitive, New Jack Swing Vol.1 who introduces R&B in France.
In 1998, K-Reen becomes popular with "Tu me plais" as a duet with Def Bond on the French film soundtrack Taxi and "Le mensongeur" with Oxmo Puccino. She released her eponymous debut album K-Reen which received acclaim from critics and released three singles "Choisis", "Explique-moi, dis-moi" and "Au bout de ton rêve". In 2000, she becomes famous with "Le fruit défendu" with Mystik.
In 2001, K-Reen released her second album Dimension with three singles "Prends ma main", "Oui-Non" and "Soirées Rétro". She performes "Que serai-je demain?" as a member of the women's collective Voix de l'éspoir. K-Reen forms the group J-C-K with Jalane and China Moses and they perform on "Tout ce qu'on veut" on her second album, "On a tous péché" on Jalane eponymous album in 2002 and "Le mec parfait" on Good Lovin by China Moses in 2004.
In 2006, K-Reen sets up her own label Astrad Music and it aims to benefit young artists, she released her third album Old School Elixir and it is considered as a "street album". K-Reen did the backing vocals for MC Solaar, Princess Erika, Lââm, Jalane, China Moses, Johnny Hallyday, Stephan Eicher, Leslie, Diam's, Anggun, Vitaa, Bana C4 and Adict. She wrote, produced and composed songs like "Prise au piège" and "Tout est clair" for Jalane, "Cette fois" for Melissa M and more.
In 2012, K-Reen released her forth album Himalaya with three singles "Tout donné, tout repris" and "Comme avant" featuring Youssoupha. She won the award for the best artiste of the year and a trophy of honors at the 6th Lindors ceremony of Guianese music. K-Reen released her fifth album Racines K'Raïb in 2015 and Fini les foutaises in 2022.

K-Reen is a fan of Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston and Prince. Her music draws on genres such as R&B, french rap, soul and zouk.
