Jim Sanford was a singer and dancer who performed in minstrel shows in Baltimore, Maryland.[1]

He performed in George Kunkel's Virginia Serenaders.[2]

He wrote and performed "Miss Lucy Neale",[3] which became popular. The song is about teo "star-crossed lovers" on an Alabama plantation.[4]
